Ryu Seung Ryong and Ha Ji-won show intense chemistry in 'Portrait of a Family' photoshoot
Ryu Seung Ryong and Ha Ji-won showcase deep emotional tension in a new photoshoot for their upcoming film 'Portrait of a Family'.
Actors Ryu Seung Ryong and Ha Ji-won have showcased extraordinary chemistry through a restrained, monotone photoshoot. As they portray characters who were once married but reunite after a divorce in the film, the deep gazes and subtle tension between the two actors are heightening anticipation for the upcoming project.

The production team for the film 'Portrait of a Family' released the photoshoot featuring Ryu and Ha from the September issue of Cosmopolitan.
In the released photos, Ryu and Ha stood before the camera with sophisticated, monotone styling. In contrast to the intense colors and unique prints featured in the film's promotional imagery, the photoshoot utilized minimalist clothing and backgrounds to keep the focus entirely on the actors' expressions and gazes.
The deep gazes shared between the two as they look at one another or stand side-by-side are particularly striking. Even without exaggerated poses or direct physical contact, the photos convey both the intimacy and the distance inherent in characters who have shared a long history, piquing curiosity about their relationship in the film.
Ryu and Ha play the roles of Jung-gu and Nam-mi, respectively, in 'Portrait of a Family'. Once famous as a top-star couple, their marriage falls apart due to the sudden appearance of Jung-gu's daughter, Dong-ju (Kim Si-a).
However, eight years later, the two meet again by fate. The story unfolds in earnest as Jung-gu and Nam-mi, who had previously turned their backs on each other, join forces to save Dong-ju after she becomes embroiled in a shocking incident.

The relationship between the two leads in 'Portrait of a Family' departs from simple romance or typical marital narratives. Because the characters—having experienced both love and separation—move toward a common goal through the bond of family, the evolution of their relationship serves as a central narrative axis of the film.
In an interview conducted alongside the photoshoot, Ryu and Ha revealed a new logline they wrote themselves for 'Portrait of a Family,' as well as their reasons for choosing the project and memorable episodes from the set. Interest is also mounting to see how the two actors interpreted the film and their characters through their own unique perspectives.
'Portrait of a Family' is the new film from director Lee Ji-won, known for 'Miss Baek.' The cast includes Ryu Seung Ryong and Ha Ji-won, alongside Kim Si-a, Kim Hae-suk, Kim Sun-young, and Kim Yeong-min.
The film depicts a broken family reuniting due to an incident involving their daughter, Dong-ju, as they trace hidden truths. The narrative is expected to focus on the lingering traces of relationships that are not easily severed even after a family unit dissolves, and the choices characters make to restore those bonds.
The photoshoot and interview with Ryu and Ha can be found in the September issue of Cosmopolitan. 'Portrait of a Family' is scheduled for release on September 2.
