Hwang Hyo-eun Says Running a Clothing Store Made Her Realize Acting Is Her Calling

Actor Hwang Hyo-eun has opened up about how stepping away into business ultimately brought her back to the conviction that acting is her true vocation.

On June 24, Hwang appeared on the YouTube channel "A-Class Jang Young-ran," hosted by broadcaster Jang Young-ran, who has been a close friend of Hwang's for 30 years. Hwang is an actor known for appearing in dramas including "The Lady in Dignity" and "Queen of Housewives."

Speaking about the clothing store she currently operates, Hwang was candid about the difficulties of running the business. "Compared with the energy and time I put into it, it does not generate profit," she said. "Because I keep giving customers coffee and snacks, the extras end up costing more than the main business."

Hwang said the experience of running the store made her reassess what kind of work truly excites her. "While doing business, I realized again that the thing that makes my heart race the most and that I can enjoy the most is, in the end, acting," she said. "From now on, I want to approach acting with a little more initiative."

She added that meeting many people through the clothing store has broadened her emotional range, giving her confidence that she can bring something new to her performances. "I am confident that I can show a new kind of acting," Hwang said.

Jang Young-ran voiced support for her longtime friend and made a direct appeal on her behalf, saying, "Casting directors and writers, please pay attention."
