Hwang Jung-eum tells son to 'call dad' over computer issue

While actress Hwang Jung-eum shared her daily life caring for her two sons, a scene captured her requesting help from her ex-husband regarding a computer issue. The moment illustrates that while their marriage has ended, their roles as parents continue.

On the 12th, a video titled 'The Day I Prepared a Home Meal with Super Simple Braised Short Ribs & Tonic Water Kkakdugi' was released on Hwang Jung-eum's YouTube Channel.

On this day, Hwang spent a busy day preparing braised short ribs and kkakdugi (radish kimchi) for her two sons. Traveling from Yongsan to Kangnam to grocery shop, she put great effort into meal prep, including snacks for the children and ingredients for fruit punch for the following morning.

After returning home, she immediately began cooking to ensure everything was ready before the children arrived. While making kkakdugi for the first time, she showcased her own style by using tonic water instead of cider.

While cooking, Hwang also reminisced about her life as a newlywed.

“I learned at a cooking academy during my newlywed period. But I think I only went about twice and then stopped going,” she recalled. She further shared that during a past argument, her ex-husband asked, “What have you ever done for me?” To which she replied, “Nothing? Okay. I won't go,” and subsequently stopped attending the academy.

Real parenting began once the two sons returned home. She showed a realistic side of motherhood, firmly telling her son, “No ramen,” when he asked for it, while encouraging him to eat the braised short ribs she had made.

An unexpected situation unfolded when her eldest son requested help with a Microsoft account needed to use his computer.

When her son asked, “Mom, do you have a Microsoft account?” Hwang replied, “I don't.” When he asked her to create one, she said, “Mom can't make things like that. Call your dad and ask him to do it.”

The son immediately called his father, and the ex-husband's voice could be heard during the call. Hwang watched the interaction naturally.

Hwang explained to the production team how she shares parenting duties with her ex-husband, noting, “If topics related to computers come up, I tell them to ask their dad.”

It was also revealed that the computer the eldest son uses was provided by his father. When the production team asked if the father had bought the computer, Hwang replied, “That's right. Wang-sik wanted it for a long time, and I kept not buying it, but I finally bought it this time.”

The scene drew attention for the way the divorced couple interacts. While discussing her past with her ex-husband, Hwang appeared to naturally divide responsibilities regarding the children. She deferred the technical computer issue to the father, allowing her son to seek the necessary help directly.

This highlights that the end of a marriage does not necessarily mean the end of a parental partnership. It reveals the reality of co-parenting, where individuals fulfill their respective roles for their children despite no longer living together.

Hwang married businessman and former professional golfer Lee Young-don in 2016 and has two sons. After experiencing a divorce crisis and reuniting, the two eventually separated again and finalized their divorce.

Hwang previously revealed on a broadcast that she decided to divorce because she was not happy during her marriage. She expressed deep affection for her two sons, stating she did not want her personal struggles to affect them.
