Don Spike Sends 'Emergency SOS' While Attempting a New Start After Drug-Related Prison Sentence
Don Spike, who served a prison sentence for drug use, is seeking urgent part-time help a day before an event where he plans to sell sandwiches to raise money for drug rehabilitation.
Don Spike, who served a prison sentence for drug use, is attempting a new start after his release, but has urgently sought a part-time worker just one day before an event. He needed extra hands for an event where he will personally make and sell sandwiches.
On the 2nd, Don Spike posted on his SNS, "Part-timer ghosted me the night before the event," adding, "Urgent recruitment for someone to sell sandwiches together at EDC on October 3–4." He honestly stated the working conditions, saying, "The work is hard. It ends in the early morning," while urgently requesting help by saying, "DM me ASAP."
The event he is participating in is the EDC Festival, held on the 3rd and 4th at the INSPIRE Resort in Incheon. Don Spike will sell handmade sandwiches, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Drug Recovery Association, which works for drug addiction recovery and rehabilitation.
Don Spike was arrested in 2022 on charges of using and possessing methamphetamine. He was taken to trial on charges including purchasing and using methamphetamine multiple times and handing drugs over to others; in the appeals court, he was sentenced to 2 years in prison, along with fines and orders to attend drug addiction and rehabilitation treatment programs. In September 2023, the Supreme Court of Korea finalized the sentence, leading to his imprisonment.
In particular, controversy grew during the trial as it was revealed that he had a prior criminal record related to marijuana. Since his full-term release, Don Spike has been continuing activities to promote the importance of drug addiction treatment and rehabilitation, as well as the dangers of drugs.
Recently, he also opened a restaurant by the seaside in Gampo, Gyeongju. At the time, reflecting on his past mistakes, he stated, "It was a precious time to resolve how to live the rest of my life so as not to repeat the same mistakes."
In the process of rebuilding his daily life following his past mistakes, a sudden recruitment call has occurred just the day before the event. Attention is focused on whether Don Spike will be able to successfully complete the sandwich sales schedule.
