Han Go-eun undergoes emergency surgery as lump grows larger; husband sobs and mother-in-law prays
Actress Han Go-eun revealed that she underwent emergency surgery after a lump in her breast grew to over 5cm. Despite the successful surgery, she faced physical exhaustion due to a demanding filming schedule, eventually requiring emergency room treatment during the Chuseok holiday.
Actress Han Go-eun revealed that she underwent surgery after a lump discovered in her breast grew to more than 5cm. Although she was initially advised to undergo follow-up observation, the lump grew within just a few months, forcing her to make an urgent decision to have surgery. While the surgery itself was completed successfully, she returned to a demanding filming schedule before she could fully recover, eventually visiting the emergency room during the Chuseok holiday. Her husband, Shin Young-soo, called his mother and wept during the surgical process, while her mother-in-law prayed for her daughter-in-law.
On the 15th, a video titled "A lump that grew to 5cm in 9 months... the reason why Han Go-eun finally had surgery" was released on the YouTube channel 'Go-eun Unni Han Go-eun'. In the video, Han Go-eun stated that during a health checkup in January this year, a 3.2cm lump was discovered in her left breast. At the time, the test results were not bad, so she decided to monitor the progress first, but the situation changed as time passed.
Han Go-eun explained, "As time passed and I was tested again in August, this lump had grown to over 5cm, so I had to undergo surgery urgently." While she was initially judged to be able to be observed when first discovered, it seems it was difficult to delay any longer after confirming the increased size during the re-examination. As she had scheduled commitments such as drama filming, she faced great deliberation in the process of deciding the timing of the surgery.
Fortunately, as a gap in the broadcasting schedule occurred due to the Asian Games coverage, Han Go-eun was able to arrange the surgery schedule urgently. However, the hearts of her family members ahead of the surgery were not at ease. The surgery, which was originally expected to take about 15 minutes, exceeded 45 minutes, and her husband, Shin Young-soo, who was waiting, called his mother out of anxiety.
Recalling that time, Shin Young-soo confessed, "I called my mother while crying. My mother was praying intensely, saying she would pray." As the surgery lasted longer than expected, concerns about potential complications seem to have grown. Her mother-in-law, who heard the news of her daughter-in-law's surgery through her son, also added her heart through prayer. It was a moment when the entire family desperately hoped for Han Go-eun's safe recovery.
Fortunately, Han Go-eun stated, "The surgery went very well." However, just because the surgery ended successfully did not mean she could immediately return to daily life. Returning to the filming set without securing a sufficient recovery period put a continuous strain on her body. She explained the situation at the time, saying, "The recovery period was short. I went to the filming set after resting for about three days, but I came down with body aches because I was running hard."
Han Go-eun said she endured while filming by thinking she could rest during the Chuseok holiday. She said, "I kept pushing forward looking only at the fact that I could rest for about three days during the Chuseok holiday." However, her body was already close to its limit. Describing her condition at the time, Han Go-eun expressed, "To tell you how hard it was, because I had to live, I would eat, but it felt like food was falling into a huge drum barrel." She meant that even when she ate food, instead of being replenished with energy, she felt like she was an empty shell.
Ultimately, Han Go-eun had to visit the emergency room during the Chuseok holiday. She looked back on the time, saying, "I came back to life after getting anti-emetic injections and an IV drip." This part shows that even after successfully completing surgery, if there is not enough time for recovery, it can place a heavy burden on the body.
This confession makes one realize that health is not fully recovered just by the fact that surgery has been completed. Han Go-eun's experience of having to endure abnormal signals from her body amidst the professional responsibility of carrying out scheduled filming added to the sadness. Above all, the story of her husband shedding tears ahead of the surgery and her mother-in-law adding her heart through prayer shows how much of a time of worry and tension it was for the family.
