Romantic lines shift among contestants on 'I Am SOLO'
The romantic dynamics of the 34th contestants on 'I Am SOLO' have shifted significantly following their first dates, marked by Jeong-suk's decisive pivot toward Gwang-su and Yeong-cheol's growing jealousy.
During the broadcast on the 28th, Jeong-suk decisively cut ties with Yeong-ho to pursue Gwang-su after he expressed interest in someone else. Meanwhile, Yeong-cheol felt jealousy as Hyeon-suk, whom he intended to pursue exclusively, indicated a desire to get to know Yeong-ho instead.
The romantic lines of the 34th contestants on 'I Am SOLO' have fluctuated following their first dates. Jeong-suk, who previously held feelings for Yeong-ho, decisively cut ties with him due to his ambiguous attitude and turned her attention toward Gwang-su. Meanwhile, Yeong-cheol, who declared his full commitment to Hyeon-suk, could not hide his jealousy when Hyeon-suk showed interest in Yeong-ho. As the speed and direction of interest diverge, the romance of this multi-child special has entered a period of intense pre-selection turmoil.
In the broadcast of ENA and SBS Plus's 'I Am SOLO' on the 28th, the 34th solo men and women were shown confirming their changing feelings and exploring new partners after their initial dates. Unexpected variables began to emerge before initial attractions could turn into certainty, causing the contestants' emotions to become complexly intertwined.
Jeong-suk demonstrated the most decisive choice. Yeong-ho, the subject of a "three-on-one date" with Yeong-suk, Jeong-suk, and Sun-ja, subsequently had one-on-one conversations with each of the three women. Jeong-suk directly asked Yeong-ho if she was among his interests, but he replied that he had another person of interest. For Jeong-suk, who was seeking to confirm his feelings, the answer was effectively a rejection.
Jeong-suk did not cling to ambiguous possibilities. She ended the connection with Yeong-ho, saying, "Then let's wrap this up," and expressed her intention to get to know Gwang-su instead. Rather than waiting while leaving room for interest, she moved quickly to her next choice after confirming the other's feelings. Attention is now focused on whether a new romantic line will form as her interest shifts from Yeong-ho to Gwang-su.
Sun-ja's feelings for Yeong-ho remained active. She clearly expressed her interest, stating, "After hearing the self-introductions, no one interested me more than Yeong-ho." However, rather than giving Sun-ja a definitive answer, Yeong-ho stated that he also wanted to talk to Hyeon-suk. While Sun-ja pointed out that his attitude was ambiguous, Yeong-ho indicated that he would be more proactive in expressing interest to those he is interested in. It remains unclear what the result will be between Sun-ja's direct approach and Yeong-ho's cautious exploration.
Yeong-cheol's feelings for Hyeon-suk grew even more intense. Having leaned toward Hyeon-suk after the first date, Yeong-cheol confessed to Yeong-ja that he had a greater interest in Hyeon-suk. He expressed his intention to focus on one person by telling Hyeon-suk, "Is there a need to bother getting to know others?" As his certainty grew, the atmosphere suggested he hoped Hyeon-suk would open her heart at the same pace.
However, Hyeon-suk's thoughts were different. She expressed feeling burdened by Yeong-cheol's aggressive approach, saying, "The speed at which you are approaching is too fast." Even as Yeong-cheol expressed strong interest in her, she indicated a desire to get to know Yeong-ho better. While Yeong-cheol's signals were intended to imply an exclusive relationship, Hyeon-suk felt she needed time to fully explore various possibilities. A difference emerged not only in the direction of their feelings but also in the speed at which they progress the relationship.
Yeong-cheol's anxiety intensified as he witnessed Hyeon-suk and Yeong-ho together. After being advised in the common living room that it was inappropriate to discuss a specific partner in front of many people, Yeong-cheol later witnessed Hyeon-suk standing side-by-side with Yeong-ho while doing the dishes. He lingered around the two, and in an interview, he confessed honestly that he felt jealous because it seemed like Hyeon-suk was trying to get to know Yeong-ho. A situation unfolded where his confident directness caused pressure for the other person, which in turn returned to him as anxiety.
The movements of the "lonely trio"—Yeong-su, Yeong-sik, and Gwang-su—also drew attention. The three men approached Sun-ja in turn to express their interest. Gwang-su asked if he could be a person of interest to Sun-ja, but she cautiously drew a line. With Jeong-suk having announced she would explore Gwang-su as a new partner, a new variable has emerged regarding whether Gwang-su's interest might shift from Sun-ja toward Jeong-suk.
Yeong-sik honestly shared that he had been interested in Sun-ja since the first impression. Sun-ja revealed that her heart was moved by such clear expression, showing a different reaction than she had toward Yeong-ho. Later, after also speaking with Sang-cheol, Sun-ja left the possibility open, remarking that he "seems cute." As Sun-ja's feelings, which had centered on Yeong-ho, gained other options, a trend emerged of her comparing multiple partners to confirm her emotions rather than focusing on one person.
Yeong-su, who was unable to approach Sun-ja, unexpectedly found a new connection with Yeong-suk. The two showed a peculiar chemistry while bickering in the common living room, and Yeong-suk discovered a different side to Yeong-su despite his grumbling attitude. She named Yeong-su as a new person of interest, noting, "He grumbles, but he might be better to his woman." Unexpected possibilities opened up even among those who had not been the focus of existing romantic lines.
Following the first dates, the relationships of the 34th contestants have entered a phase where individual methods of expressing emotion and criteria for choosing partners collide, moving beyond a simple competition for popularity. Jeong-suk cut ties with Yeong-ho without lingering to turn her gaze to Gwang-su, and Yeong-cheol, despite going all-in on Hyeon-suk, was shaken by jealousy because he could not be certain of her feelings. With Sun-ja's directness toward Yeong-ho, Yeong-sik's clear expression of interest, and the new current between Yeong-suk and Yeong-su, the romantic lines of the 34th contestants have become unpredictable. Attention is focused on who will protect their chosen heart and who will seek out new partners in the next selection.
