Jun Hyun-moo breaks silence on SNS after a month and a half following 'I Live Alone' controversy
Jun Hyun-moo has resumed his social media activity after a month and a half of silence following the manipulation controversy surrounding 'I Live Alone'. While he shared updates regarding his work at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, he made no mention of the controversy itself.
Jun Hyun-moo has restarted his social media activity, which had been paused for a while. However, the timing is peculiar. After failing to release any particular position following the surge of the 'I Live Alone' manipulation controversy, he appeared after about a month and a half, but did not utter a single word regarding the controversy itself.
On the 4th, Jun Hyun-moo posted several photos on his SNS, leaving a message that read, "You all worked hard. I am leaving after feeling and learning many things on site." The photos included his activities at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games site and captures of articles covering his commentary. It was content reflecting on the time he spent on-site as a commentator rather than a broadcaster.
What drew attention was the period of absence on his SNS. This post was uploaded about a month and a half after August 22. In the meantime, quite a noisy incident occurred involving Jun Hyun-moo. Regarding the Kazakhstan impromptu travel episode of MBC's 'I Live Alone' broadcast on August 14 and 21, suspicions were raised among some viewers that the schedule and movement routes might have been prepared in advance.
Although it was depicted on the broadcast as a trip taken spontaneously, criticisms continued that certain scenes might have actually been planned in advance. While this spread as a so-called 'manipulation controversy', Jun Hyun-moo did not release a separate position at that time. The same was true for this resumption of SNS. He only mentioned the Asian Games site and his commentary, with no mention whatsoever related to the 'I Live Alone' controversy.
In the meantime, the atmosphere of the program was also not smooth. Following the controversy, 'I Live Alone' continued a downward trend in viewership ratings; after the broadcast on the 11th of last month fell to the 4% range, the 666th episode dropped to 3.5%. As a program that had reigned as a powerhouse of Friday night variety shows for a long time, these were noticeable figures.
However, the protagonist who changed the atmosphere was an unexpected person. Actor Kim Min, who appeared in the broadcast on the 2nd, raised topicality by revealing a unique daily life living in an old house nearly 90 years old, and that episode rebounded to the 6% viewership rating range. As Kim Min's raw daily life—running a generator to use electricity, personally fixing broken floors, and even practicing martial arts—captured the viewers' attention, the program regained its vitality for the first time in a long while.
As Jun Hyun-moo restarts his SNS activity, 'I Live Alone' also seems to have seized an opportunity for a rebound. However, even in the first post uploaded after more than a month of silence, he did not touch upon the controversy itself. Ultimately, whether Jun Hyun-moo will directly open his mouth regarding the controversy in the future, or whether he will respond only through broadcasts and his own activities as he is doing now, has become another point of interest.
