Actor Kim Bo-sung has personally opened up about the military service exemption controversy that has followed him for a long time. As his image is that of someone with a sturdier physique than anyone else and someone who even enjoys martial arts, he has faced misunderstandings such as "Why didn't you go to the military when your limbs are perfectly fine?", but the actual reason was due to a visual impairment.

In a video released through his YouTube channel on the 5th, Kim Bo-sung brought up the topic of his military exemption while checking his own profile. He directly revealed the relevant welfare card, stating, "I was exempted from military service because I have a Grade 6 visual impairment, and this caused an issue."

The misunderstandings surrounding Kim Bo-sung in the past stemmed from his outward image. Since he has been called a synonym for loyalty and a real man, and has actively participated in martial arts, there were many eyes looking at his military exemption with doubt. Kim Bo-sung expressed his frustrating feelings, saying, "There was a misunderstanding that I wouldn't go to the military because my limbs look perfectly fine."

He explained that the misunderstanding was largely resolved after he eventually revealed his visual impairment through broadcasts. In particular, he shared the story that the condition of one of his eyes worsened further due to injuries sustained during the process of practicing martial arts.

Kim Bo-sung said, "While doing martial arts, the eye that could see well also suffered an orbital fracture," and "The public learned once more that my left eye cannot see. I think many people probably know by now." He explained that the disability, which was not visible on the surface, was directly related to his military exemption.

However, it was not as if Kim Bo-sung had tried to avoid military service from the beginning. Rather, he drew attention by revealing, "I originally applied for the Republic of Korea Army Special Warfare Command, but I kept failing, which made me very sad." His explanation was that he had the will to serve in the military, but could not achieve his goal due to his physical reasons.

Kim Bo-sung also relieved his regret of not being able to serve in the military in another way. He recalled, "So I filmed all the military experience programs." It was as if he replaced the regret of not being able to become a soldier with military experiences through broadcasts.

Kim Bo-sung, who directly revealed the visual impairment and the reason for his military exemption that were hidden behind his strong masculine image. As he personally spoke about the misunderstandings that followed him based only on his appearance, interest is also focusing on another side of him, known as the 'Man of Loyalty.'
