Amid allegations of manipulation surrounding the life of actor Kim Min in an old house in Dongducheon revealed on 'I Live Alone', it has been reported that after directly verifying the actual site, a significant number of the traces of daily life that appeared on the broadcast remain as they were.

Immediately after the broadcast, questions were raised regarding the differences from road view images and the method of using the generator, but at the site, the items and the generator known to have been directly used or made by Kim Min were actually in place.

Recently, on MBC's 'I Live Alone', Kim Min's life in an approximately 90-year-old old house in Dongducheon was revealed. At this location, Kim Min secures electricity using a generator and personally repaired the old, broken floor with cement. He showed a lifestyle far removed from the typical daily life of a celebrity, such as performing woodworking, practicing martial arts, and grilling meat over a wood fire, which garnered significant attention immediately after the broadcast.

In particular, Kim Min's lifestyle left a strong impression as it aligned with the "raw daily life" characteristic of the program. As his life was revealed, from teaching children as a Hapkido instructor to repairing the space himself and utilizing various tools, viewers showed interest in the actual life of Kim Min, which had not been well known to the public. The broadcast recorded a peak viewership rating of 8.4% along with high topicality, and related videos spread rapidly online.

However, as the popularity grew, unexpected controversies also emerged. Some netizens pointed out that the appearance of the yard and surrounding space was quite different by comparing the road view images marked as July filming with the appearance of the house in the broadcast. Additionally, as Kim Min's life using a generator was revealed despite utility poles being visible around the house, questions such as "Is it really a house without electricity?" continued to follow. The capture of objects that appeared to be a refrigerator and a router on the broadcast screen also fueled the controversy.

As the controversy spread, a media outlet visited the old house in Dongducheon where Kim Min lives on the 5th to verify the site. At the scene, the sandbag used by Kim Min in the broadcast was still hanging, and the wooden chairs and tables he introduced as having made himself, as well as wooden pallets and various work materials, were also confirmed to be found in various places. Above all, the generator, which appeared as a key living tool in the broadcast, was also still at the site.

It was not the case that the broadcast and the site were exactly the same. The large parasol that added a "Bali vibe" was not seen at the site, and the drawing on the exterior wall of the building was also covered with a blue tarp. Regarding this, some speculated whether the space had been decorated for the broadcast filming and then reorganized afterward.

Kim Min explained the reason directly. He stated that as people began to find out the location of the house and visit after the broadcast, he temporarily folded the parasol, which is easily visible from the outside. He explained that the drawing on the exterior wall was also covered to protect his privacy, as it could act as a kind of marker that could identify the location of the house. The intention was that as more interest poured in than expected after the broadcast, he took measures to protect his actual living space.

An explanation also came regarding the questions surrounding the refrigerator. In response to the point that a refrigerator is placed in a house without electricity, Kim Min revealed that the refrigerator in question was not an item he brought in newly for the broadcast, but something that had been in the house for a long time. He explained that the house itself is not a villa owned by Kim Min, but an old house of an acquaintance with whom he has a long-standing relationship, and he uses it by repairing it little by little and staying there rather than leaving it empty for a long time.

The photo of actress Shim Eun-ha hanging inside the house was also not a prop prepared for the broadcast. He explained that it was a photo of an actress that his acquaintance liked and left as is, and the reason for not removing the old refrigerator is in the same context. The elements that appeared as part of the old and unique space in the broadcast were actually traces of life that had remained in that house for a long time.

The electricity usage issue remains a point of curiosity for viewers. One netizen, who identified themselves as a field employee of the Korea Electric Power Corporation, offered the opinion that even if the electricity service lines and the meter box remain, it is possible that the electricity contract has been terminated if the actual electricity meter is not present. However, as this is an individual's opinion, the actual electricity contract status of the house or the method of using the generator has not been officially confirmed.

Ultimately, this controversy needs to distinguish between the issue of "whether all the appearances in the broadcast were staged" and the issue of "whether the space was partially organized or the way it was shown was adjusted for filming." While the fact that the generator, sandbag, self-made furniture, and work tools that appeared in the broadcast remain at the actual site cannot confirm the authenticity of the entire broadcast, conversely, it is also difficult to conclude that Kim Min's life itself was manipulated simply because the road view and the screen are different.

In particular, as 'I Live Alone' has had cases in the past where controversies over the staging of the travelers' and participants' lives arose, an atmosphere has formed where viewers check the lifestyle on the screen more meticulously. In Kim Min's case, as interest grew to the point where people actually visit his house after the broadcast, the explanation for covering the parasol or the exterior wall drawing also needs to be viewed in terms of privacy protection.

In the end, many traces supporting Kim Min's life in the broadcast were discovered at the site verified so far. Although not all questions have been resolved, it is at least far from the conclusion that it was a "space created from beginning to end." As interest grows regarding how much of the free-spirited life shown in the broadcast was real and how much was organized for filming, Kim Min's life in the old house is expected to remain a center of another topic for 'I Live Alone' for the time being.
