Pungja, Is Happiness Anything Special? Relieving Stress Through Deviation and Leisure
Pungja revealed that she has been struggling mentally for the past 2 to 3 months, but found unexpected happiness during a backpacking trip to Jangbongdo after her original plans to visit Gulupdo failed.
“I have been mentally struggling for the last 2 to 3 months.” Pungja, who has met the public with a bright and cheerful image, revealed her unexpected inner feelings. However, for her while going through a difficult time, a day that did not go according to plan instead became an unexpected ‘best day.’
In a video released on her channel ‘Pungja TV’ on the 5th, Pungja showed herself going backpacking. Her original destination was Gulupdo, but the plan went awry from the start when she missed the only boat of the day. The problem was that she arrived at the ferry terminal at 9:03 AM when she was supposed to take the 9:00 AM boat.
Pungja expressed her regret, saying, “Today is my fault. I was late.” Ultimately, she canceled the boat heading to Gulupdo, moved to Sammok Ferry Terminal, and changed her destination to Jangbongdo with an acquaintance to go backpacking. Looking at the plans alone, it was a perfect ‘ruined schedule day.’
However, the atmosphere flowed in the exact opposite direction. While eating dinner, Pungja said, “Today really feels a bit like youth,” and added, “It is a day where things don't go as planned, but I didn't get annoyed even once. It was so funny.” Rather, the day that deviated from the plan provided her with a strange sense of liberation.
She also confessed that she does not usually open her heart easily. Pungja said, “I don't open the door to my heart to people easily,” noting that people around her find this surprising. She exchanged comfortable jokes with her acquaintance, showcasing her characteristic wit, and appeared to have let down her guard for this day.
Most eye-catching was the confession that followed. Pungja revealed, “Of the last two months, today is the happiest,” and “I have been mentally struggling for 2 to 3 months, but this is the happiest kind of day.” It was a moment revealing that behind her bright broadcast image, there had been mental suffering she could not speak of until now.
Pungja said that this day would likely give her strength for the future. “Because today exists, I think I can live hard for about 3 months,” she said, adding, “It was a day where I felt so many things and felt them emotionally.” In particular, she said that thanks to missing the boat, precious time was created that she would not have met if she had returned according to the original plan, and she said she keeps thinking, “I really did well.”
The unexpected deviation became a time to recover her mind. A day that did not go as planned remained the happiest day for Pungja among the recent months. Pungja, who always entertained people with laughter, drew attention as she briefly laid down her daily life and took a breath in her own way.
After gaining fame through her personal channel ‘Pungja TV,’ Pungja became the first transgender creator in Korea to surpass 500,000 subscribers. Since then, she has expanded her position as a broadcaster by appearing in various programs including the web variety shows ‘Mouth on Wheels’ and ‘A Place Worth Visiting Again,’ as well as SBS ‘Eat, Gain or Lose’ and MBC ‘Omniscient Interfering View.’
