Shin Min-a says she sensed toe shoes might become a trend
Actress Shin Min-a shared behind-the-scenes stories regarding her past fashion choices, including her toe shoes, and discussed her experience preparing for the drama "The Remarried Empress."
During an appearance on the ELLE Korea YouTube channel, actress Shin Min-a revealed that she felt toe shoes could become a trend after noticing many people wearing them. She also discussed her experience filming 'The Remarried Empress', noting that she adapted to the script's unfamiliar world-building faster than expected.

Actress Shin Min-a has revealed the backstory behind her once-controversial choice to wear "toe shoes." From nails and piercings to unique footwear, she drew attention by sharing how some of the styles she selected actually felt like they might become trends.
Appearing on the official ELLE Korea YouTube channel, Shin Min-a was asked questions regarding fashion and beauty items. Recognized as a representative "wannabe star," she has led fashion trends with every item she wears, including nails, piercings, and toe shoes. Because her style choices have frequently led to actual trends, she was asked if she had anticipated those trends at the time.
When asked honestly if she expected her styles to become trendy, Shin Min-a replied, "I didn't think they would become a trend; I think I just chose things that looked pretty to me." She explained that rather than being conscious of public reaction or trends, she selected styles that suited her well and that she liked.
In particular, she had her own tastes and reasons for her nails and piercings. "I still have that nail color at home; I thought it was a color that goes well with everything and is an essential item," she said. Regarding piercings, she noted, "My ears stick out a little, so I did a piercing in the middle so that it wouldn't just look like my ears." She added that these were not just simple decorations, but styling choices made by considering her physical features.
She showed a slightly different reaction regarding the controversial toe shoes. "I had a feeling that toe shoes might become a bit of a trend," Shin Min-a said with a laugh, noting, "Many people were wearing them during that period." While she was not certain they would become a trend, she felt the potential for the item at the time, naturally recalling how the style she enjoyed wearing spread to the public.
Shin Min-a also revealed the process of participating in her recent hit work, 'The Remarried Empress', and her feelings when she first encountered the script. Recalling when she first received it, she said, "I thought, 'What is this?' It was such a new type of script." She explained that because she encountered the drama script before the original story, she had to accept the work's world-building as something entirely new from the start.
She continued, "Because we had to film after creating an unexpected world, I thought, 'How can we film this?' At the same time, I felt that many people would easily empathize because the character Navier is a progressive and independent woman who chooses her own life." She focused on the charm of Navier, who makes independent life choices, while contemplating the unfamiliar world-building.
While she faced many concerns while participating in the work, she also shared that she adapted to the world-building faster than expected. "I had many points of concern while working on the project, but I entered that world faster than I thought," Shin Min-a said. "If viewers feel the same way we do, I think they will be able to enter that world faster than expected as well." She expressed hope that viewers would be able to feel the same sense of immersion that she experienced.
From her own standards for choosing fashion items to her concerns as an actress taking on a new project, Shin Min-a's honest answers are drawing interest. Her sense of style, completed based on her own taste rather than chasing trends, and her acting approach to accepting an unfamiliar world-building are being highlighted together.
