Actor Song Jae-hee Watches Crowds Wave at His Cybertruck and Wonders: Have I Brought People That Much Joy?
Actor Song Jae-hee bought a Tesla Cybertruck, the model GD arrived in at an airport, as a family car for his three children. In a YouTube review he said the crowd reaction made him reflect on his acting career.
"I wonder whether, as an actor, I have given people that much joy" — that was the thought actor Song Jae-hee said he had while watching how people reacted to his new Tesla Cybertruck, the same model GD drew attention for riding in at an airport. The car costs in the high 160 million won range.
A review that took a turn
The video, titled "Our family's family car! Honest Cybertruck review," was recently posted on the YouTube channel Song Jae-hee & Ji So-yeon's Good News. Song said he had tried several vehicles, but wanted to share the appeal of the Tesla Cybertruck with viewers. Before even revealing the car, he teased viewers' curiosity about its price. Many people assume from its looks that it costs more than 200 million won, he said, but the actual price is in the high 160 million won range. He added that he is very satisfied for the money and clearly loves the vehicle.
The price and performance were not the most striking part, though. Song, who was driving, admitted that there were moments when he felt a little uneasy in the car, and the reason was the public's enthusiastic reaction. "People love this car a lot. Much more than they love me," he said. When it passes, he explained, people of all ages wave, and even elderly people react cheerfully, which made him feel the special joy the vehicle brings.
That led to the confession that drew laughs: watching a car that delights people, he began to wonder whether he, as an actor, had given people as much joy. A review that began as a showcase for an expensive car turned into self-reflection about his presence as an actor. Comparing his profession with a vehicle that commands attention on the road was an offbeat but endearing remark, and his admission that interest in the car turned into envy is easy to laugh at.
Room for twins' strollers and three car seats
For Song, a father of three, the Cybertruck is more than a luxury car with a distinctive look. He opened the trunk to show the generous cargo space and stressed its practicality as a family vehicle. By his account, it holds the twin stroller, the car seat of his first child Hael, and the twins' car seats. For parents of three, flashy design is not the only criterion when choosing a car; how easily it carries strollers and other child-care gear is a practical concern, and Song named the space efficiency as the truck's key strength.
He also introduced features specific to electric vehicles. Song mentioned a button that can be used when there is a problem with the power supply, and listed the self-driving function FSD as another plus. Saying he would drive and examine the car closely, he continued the driving review with his wife, Ji So-yeon, in the back seat. Ji joked that if the two kept chatting about cars like this, people would mistake them for car dealers, lightening the mood.
A family of five
Song and Ji married in 2017. After overcoming infertility, they welcomed their first daughter, Hael, in 2023, and last year they had twins, a boy and a girl, through in vitro fertilization, becoming parents of three. In the daily life of a family raising three children, the Cybertruck has become a family car that stands out for its roomy interior and distinctive presence. From the honest review of an expensive vehicle to a quirky worry about his acting career, Song used the video to give a cheerful look at his life as a father, husband and actor.
