Woo Seo-yoon, who rose to the position of 2026 Miss Korea Jin, has shared her personal thoughts directly about two months after the competition. Following a brief moment of glory filled with congratulations and interest, she faced unexpected controversy surrounding plastic surgery allegations regarding her changed appearance compared to her past television appearances. Amidst the diverging views directed toward her, she drew attention by expressing her determination to grow into a person worthy of the name Miss Korea Jin.

On the 16th, Woo Seo-yoon posted a long message on her SNS, reflecting on the time she spent participating in the Miss Korea Pageant. She stated that the competition holds a special meaning for her, saying, “For me, this competition was more than just a single contest; it will remain a precious experience that will never happen again.” This implies that not only the result of winning the crown, but also the experiences and people she met during the process, are precious assets she will cherish throughout her life.

In particular, Woo Seo-yoon expressed special gratitude for the connections made through the competition. She shared, “I was able to build precious memories that I will cherish for a lifetime, and being able to form precious bonds with good people remains a greater gift to me than anything else.” She continued to express her gratitude to those who supported her, saying, “I sincerely thank you for the great interest and warm support you have sent me.” She also promised, “I will become a person who can repay the hearts you have sent me with a good influence.”

She also made her intentions for her future steps clear. Woo Seo-yoon emphasized, “I will learn and strive at every moment so that I can become a person worthy of the title Miss Korea Jin, and I will continue to grow day by day.” Rather than responding individually to the various controversies surrounding her immediately after the competition, she focused her message on gratitude and growth. However, she did not provide a separate position regarding the plastic surgery allegations in this post.

Woo Seo-yoon won the highest honor, Jin, at the 70th Miss Korea Pageant held at the COEX Auditorium in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, this past August. She also drew interest as it was revealed that she is the eldest daughter of former professional basketball player Woo Ji-won. It is reported that she is currently majoring in art at Tufts University in the United States and dreams of working as a global art curator in the future. With her background as the daughter of a sports star and her academic and career paths gaining attention, public interest has grown even further following her victory in the competition.

However, unexpected controversies followed immediately after she became the protagonist of the glamorous crown. Centered around online communities, posts comparing her recent photos with past footage resurfaced as her appearance during her teenage years on television was re-examined, leading to allegations of plastic surgery among some netizens. Woo Seo-yoon previously gained recognition through appearances on the tvN variety program ‘Nest Escape 3’ in 2018. As speculations regarding the change in her appearance between the past and present continued, some claims even raised issues regarding the fairness of the Miss Korea Pageant.

However, one cannot conclude whether plastic surgery occurred based solely on changes in appearance. Since Woo Seo-yoon has not officially admitted to having plastic surgery, it is necessary to distinguish between the allegations raised online and confirmed facts. The phenomenon where interest in a beauty pageant winner quickly spreads into evaluations and speculations of appearance also serves as a reminder of the issue regarding what standards the public uses to view women's appearance and beauty, beyond individual verification. In particular, the method of simply comparing television footage from childhood with her current adult appearance can place unnecessary burdens on the individual.

Woo Seo-yoon had also expressed her thoughts on the views surrounding her in a previous interview. At that time, she said, “Among the stories that come out amidst much interest, there are words that are hurtful, but I try not to be hurt by them myself,” adding, “I hope there will be an opportunity to show my true self in the future.” While being conscious of the reality that various evaluations and speculations follow as interest grows, she expressed her desire to show herself as she is someday.

This SNS post focused on her sense of responsibility as Miss Korea Jin and her future growth. Although there was no direct explanation regarding the plastic surgery allegations, Woo Seo-yoon expressed her intention to not take the title given to her lightly and to become a person who constantly learns and delivers a good influence. As the interest that began with her winning the competition has shifted to appearance controversies, attention is focused on what kind of activities and steps she will take to demonstrate her own presence.
