Comedian Yoon Taek revealed on the 28th that 'Into the Wilderness' airs as many as 80 reruns in a single day across 23 channels, though the fees are only one-fourth of the level paid by terrestrial broadcasters.
Comedian Yoon Taek has revealed the massive number of reruns for the long-running program 'Into the Wilderness' along with unexpected levels of rerun fees. While the show enjoys steady popularity with as many as 80 reruns in a single day, Yoon explained that the rerun fees are only one-fourth of the level paid by terrestrial broadcasters. Although the frequency of broadcasts suggests significant income, the actual structure of appearance fees differs from what viewers might expect.
Appearing on the MBC entertainment program 'Radio Star' on the 28th alongside Lee Kye-in, Yuk Joong-wan, and Kim Min, Yoon shared behind-the-scenes stories regarding 'Into the Wilderness.' He explained the program's extraordinary presence, noting that it has essentially occupied the TV channels frequently watched by the elderly.
“'Into the Wilderness' does a huge amount of reruns. They are broadcast on 23 channels, and at times, there are as many as 80 reruns in a single day,” Yoon stated. This indicates that the program is utilized so consistently that it is scheduled repeatedly across multiple channels and airs dozens of times a day. This also demonstrates the continuous demand for the program, which aligns with the viewing habits of a specific generation.
Upon hearing this, the MCs naturally expressed interest in the rerun fees. They wondered if the income returning to the cast members would be substantial given how frequently the show is aired. However, Yoon's explanation was contrary to expectations. In response to the reaction that the rerun fees must be high, he replied, “But the rerun fees are one-fourth of the level of terrestrial broadcasters.”
This revealed that a high number of reruns does not mean a cast member's income increases infinitely in proportion to the number of broadcasts. However, Yoon did not stop at expressing regret over the difference in income. He smiled and added, “Even so, I am happy,” showing the composure of a cast member who has been with the program for a long time.
The scale of reruns for 'Into the Wilderness' was previously a topic of interest due to comments made by comedian Lee Seung-yoon, who also leads the program. Appearing with Yoon on the MBN program 'Kim Joo-ha's Day and Night' on the 10th, Lee Seung-yoon explained that the program is reruns 400 times a week. When viewed alongside Yoon's comment of a maximum of 80 reruns a day, it is possible to estimate how frequently the program is scheduled across various channels.
At that time, Lee Seung-yoon also disclosed information regarding rerun income. He revealed that he contributed his earnings toward purchasing a house for his parents, saying, “I contributed to buying my parents a house.” He then drew interest by noting that he used his earnings to help buy land, referring to Yoon.
'Into the Wilderness' has met viewers over a long period by highlighting the daily lives and lifestyles of people living in nature instead of using flashy sets or provocative settings. The phenomenon of repeated reruns shows that the program has formed a stable demand among a specific viewership. Yoon's remarks reveal the fact that high rerun frequency does not necessarily equate to high appearance fees, while simultaneously conveying the satisfaction of a cast member who has led a program for a long time.
