Agent Kim Reactivated finale: Will So Ji-sub and his daughter survive?

As ‘Agent Kim Reactivated’ approaches its final episode, protagonist Agent Kim (played by So Ji-sub) and the 'Dad Universe' surrounding him face an irreversible crisis.

In the final episode of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama ‘Agent Kim Reactivated,’ airing on the 25th at 9:45 PM, tension is expected to explode as the clash between national duty and the paternal instinct to protect family reaches a breaking point.

The ninth episode, which aired on the 24th, recorded a viewership rating of 21.5% (according to Nielsen Korea). While this was a slight decrease from the eighth episode, which set a personal record of 23.1%, the series maintained its momentum as this year's most talked-about production by surpassing the 20% mark for six consecutive episodes.

In the previous episode, the story reached its climax when Ri Eung-ryeong (played by Lee Jae-yong), the high-ranking North Korean official Agent Kim is tasked to protect, faced the threat of being handed back to North Korean officials.

To rescue Ri, Agent Kim worked alongside reliable colleagues, including Sung Han-soo (played by Choi Dae-hoon), Park Jin-cheol (played by Yoon Kyung-ho), Son Naeun, and Mr. Lim the laundryman (played by Park Jin Woo). They kidnapped Joo Kang-chan (played by Joo Sang-wook), the owner of the resort used by the North Korean officials, to initiate negotiations, eventually succeeding in rescuing the confined Ri.

However, the victory was short-lived. The situation shifted abruptly when North Korean agents activated an EMP, paralyzing all communications. Cut off from the outside world, Agent Kim and Ri were surrounded by enemies, facing an unpredictable standoff.

Then, a new crisis emerged. The escaped Joo Kang-chan reappeared before Sung Han-soo and Park Jin-cheol, revealing a shocking video. The footage showed Sung's son, Tae-hoon, and Park's daughter, Da-bin, kidnapped and bound.

Joo pressured the two men, threatening, “If you even touch me with a fingertip, the kids are dead.” An enraged Park grabbed him by the collar, but Sung, fearing for the children's lives, barely managed to restrain him.

Park eventually released Joo, warning, “If anything happens to Da-bin, I will chew you up bone by bone,” while a desperate Sung was seen breaking down, shouting, “Where are the kids?”

The preview for the final episode delivered an even more shocking scene. In the released footage, Agent Kim and his daughter Minzy appeared as if they were being laid to rest in a charnel house, leaving viewers stunned.

Attention is now focused on whether Agent Kim will meet a tragic end with his family, or if he will complete his mission and secure a new identity to start a normal life with his daughter as promised to the state.

Beyond simple spy action, ‘Agent Kim Reactivated’ is a drama centered on 'family'—the most private value a human seeks to protect within the massive system of the state. In the finale, all eyes are on Agent Kim's final decision as he chooses between mission and family, and between the past and the future.
