Kang Mi-na Says She Had Never Been to a Club, So She Drank Whiskey While Filming a Club Scene

Kang Mi-na, an actress and former member of the girl group I.O.I, revealed an on-set story about drinking alcohol during filming in order to immerse herself more fully in a performance.

On June 23, Kang Mi-na appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel 'Jo Hyun-ah's Ordinary Thursday Night,' where she enjoyed a picnic on the banks of the Han River with singer Jo Hyun-ah.

During the episode, Kang Mi-na shared behind-the-scenes details from the recently buzzworthy Netflix series 'Girigo.' She said she ran into an unexpected difficulty while filming a club scene for the project.

Kang Mi-na confessed, "I debuted when I was young, so I had never been to a club even once. When I had to film a club scene, I had no idea what the atmosphere was like, and acting it out by myself felt so embarrassing that I felt a lot of pressure."

In the end, she said she tried to settle into the scene by drinking on set, explaining, "I mixed a little whiskey into a tumbler and drank it little by little while filming."

Jo Hyun-ah praised Kang Mi-na's commitment to the performance, saying, "No wonder I thought you were really drunk. You really gave off the feeling of a delinquent teenager secretly escaping at dawn to go out and have fun. It suited the role so well."
