MayB and Yoon Sang Hyun: Why They Married After Only 3 Dates

Singer and songwriter MayB has revealed her extraordinary love story with actor Yoon Sang Hyun. Unlike the glamorous romances often associated with celebrity couples, their journey to marriage was both brief and intense. Although they only went on three proper dates, their certainty about one another deepened rapidly.

On the 25th, MayB candidly shared stories ranging from her first meeting with Yoon Sang Hyun to their marriage and life as a family in a video released on entertainer Lee Geum Hee's YouTube channel.

The connection between the two began through a special introduction.

“It’s more fun because it wasn't typical,” MayB said, noting, “We only had about three proper dates before getting married.”

She explained that her friendship with Yoon Sang Hyun's manager served as the catalyst.

“My husband's manager was close to me. Since my husband often said he wanted to get married quickly, she introduced us.”

However, not everything was perfect from the very first meeting.

MayB brought laughter to the viewers by revealing, “My husband said he didn't like me at first.”

While Yoon Sang Hyun's ideal type was a woman with a healthy and curvaceous image, MayB had a slim physique at the time.

Yet, contrary to his first impression, Yoon Sang Hyun's feelings changed as time passed.

MayB shared, “He said that even though we weren't meeting, he kept thinking about me. He said that upon rethinking, he felt, ‘I could marry this person.’”

The couple's marriage proceeded with surprising speed.

In particular, Yoon Sang Hyun became a hot topic when he announced his marriage plans on a broadcast before having sufficient discussions with MayB.

“My husband went on 'Healing Camp, Aren't You Happy' and announced he had someone to marry. Watching that broadcast, I wondered, 'Am I the one getting married?'” MayB recalled.

She continued, “After that, we had the family meeting, and before I knew it, I was walking into the wedding hall. Everything happened in the blink of an eye.”

Despite concerns regarding their short dating period, the couple actually used the time after marriage to get to know one another.

“We married without knowing much about each other. But after getting married, we learned about one another and became closer,” MayB stated. “I've come to know my husband even better while raising our children.”

In particular, she noted that their personalities are completely different.

“Our MBTI types are polar opposites. It's to the point where I wonder if we can be this different.”

However, these differing personalities actually became the strength that maintained their relationship.

The most memorable part of their story was their honeymoon.

At a time when many celebrity couples were heading to overseas resorts, Yoon Sang Hyun and MayB's choice was unexpected: Gyeongju.

“I was also expecting somewhere like Phuket. But my husband said he wanted to go to Gyeongju because he likes Buddhist art,” MayB revealed.

Though she was puzzled at first, it remained a special memory.

Yoon Sang Hyun prepared hiking gear as honeymoon gifts, and the two climbed a mountain together.

“We went to a temple to pray and then came down,” MayB said. “Recently, we climbed that same mountain again with our children. Seeing my husband's back as he climbed the mountain, embracing the shadows of our children, was deeply moving.”

It was a testament to the idea that rather than glamorous destinations or grand events, the time spent walking together and looking at the same scenery ultimately remains as a couple's lasting memory.

Married in 2015, MayB and Yoon Sang Hyun are currently living as a family raising one son and two daughters.
