Hwang Jung-min teases Zo In Sung's 'beggar' look in 'Hope' behind-the-scenes

Actor Hwang Jung-min brought laughter to the set with his unfiltered remarks regarding Zo In Sung's radical beard styling.

On the 24th, the lead actors of the film 'Hope' (directed by Na Hong-jin)—Hwang Jung-min, Zo In Sung, and Jung Ho-yeon—appeared on the YouTube channel 'Channel 15ya' to share various stories about the production and filming behind-the-scenes.

During the appearance, Zo spoke about his much-discussed beard makeup. Regarding reactions that his long beard and rugged appearance in the film resembled director Na Hong-jin, Zo remarked, "Many people seem to feel that way."

He continued, "Even at the Cannes Film Festival, reporters asked me if it was a projection of the director's image. I was curious too, so I asked the director if that was his intention, and he said, 'Oh, absolutely not.'"

However, listening from the side, Hwang showcased his signature witty humor as he recalled Zo's transformation process.

Hwang caused the set to burst into laughter when he said, "During the test shoot, he was wearing a hat with the beard, and they had turned a handsome guy into a beggar." It was a joke regarding Zo, who is usually loved for his sculpted visuals, transforming into a rugged and shabby figure.

Zo also burst into laughter while sharing episodes related to the styling, and the natural chemistry between the two actors further heightened expectations for the film.

'Hope' is a film directed by Na Hong-jin that depicts a story unfolding in a remote village where characters encounter an unknown entity.
