Leeteuk in Accident Two Weeks After Porsche Delivery, Repair Bill Near 14 Million Won

Super Junior member Leeteuk has revealed that he was involved in a frightening traffic accident shortly after taking delivery of a Porsche. In the photo referenced by the article, Leeteuk appears on the right.

On May 30, Leeteuk wrote on his Instagram that, after his ambassadorship ended, he bought his Taycan GTS from Porsche. He explained that the car was essentially still new: PPF work had been completed, a shoot had wrapped only two weeks earlier, and the vehicle had been driven just 800 kilometers. Some of the protective plastic on the seats had not even been removed when, on the highway, the car behind him struck his vehicle from the rear.

Describing the impact, Leeteuk said it felt as if his entire body had been hit with a hammer. He added that the rear of the car was badly damaged, with repair costs alone expected to come close to 14 million won. He said he was upset that a brand-new car had instantly become an accident-damaged vehicle, and that the shock from the crash had left him with severe pain in his neck and lower back. He is currently going to physical therapy every day.

Leeteuk also said the accident happened when he was completely defenseless, making it even more startling. He explained that he is trying to keep up with schedules for a new album, tour preparations, broadcast recordings, and nursing his companion dog Kungi at the same time. Because of the circumstances around him, he said it has been somewhat overwhelming to handle all the processing and communication related to the accident on his own, without help from SM, but he added that he would do his best to bring this matter to a strong close.

Leeteuk previously disclosed that Kungi had been diagnosed with heart disease and pulmonary edema. He said the car order had been entered incorrectly, causing a long wait before delivery, and that seeing Kungi fall ill and the accident happen immediately after the car arrived made him feel the vehicle was not a good fit for him. Even if the financial loss is very large, he said he intends to sell the car right after it is repaired.

This is not the first serious traffic accident connected to Leeteuk. In April 2007, after finishing a KBS radio schedule with fellow Super Junior members Kyuhyun, Shindong, and Eunhyuk, he was on the way back to their dormitory when their vehicle overturned on Olympic-daero near Banpo Bridge, leaving him seriously injured. At the time, Kyuhyun faced a life-or-death crisis, and the vehicle was completely destroyed.

There was another major incident in 2011, when Leeteuk and Kim Hee-chul were involved in a seven-car collision in Singapore. A car carrying a fan crashed into the van carrying Leeteuk and Kim Hee-chul, and five more vehicles then collided afterward, turning it into a serious accident.
