SHIN JI Reveals Being Deceived by Deepfake Ad Featuring Lee Ji-hye

SHIN JI, a member of the group Koyote, revealed her experience of being deceived by a fake advertisement created using deepfake technology on YouTube.

SHIN JI spent a relaxing time taking a walk at Namhansanseong with her husband, Moon Won. During their conversation, SHIN JI mentioned a ridiculous experience she recently had on SNS. She stated, "I was so shocked while browsing SNS. Usually, when something pops up on my SNS, I tend to buy it. Two days ago, S#arp's Lee Ji-hye unnie was introducing a bra. It was a product with very thin straps. It looked so good that I ordered it and was waiting, but then an article came out."

SHIN JI revealed that the video was not an actual advertisement but fake content produced by AI. She expressed her disbelief, saying, "It was AI. It was a Chinese product, but it had Lee Ji-hye unnie's face. However, she said she never filmed such an advertisement. I am so shocked."

Regarding the suddenly spreading deepfake advertisements, she expressed confusion, asking, "How are people like me, who are easily swayed into buying, supposed to trust anything in the future? Aren't we just being deceived by AI?"

Lee Ji-hye recently appealed for help regarding the unauthorized use of her face, suspected to be deepfakes. On the 18th, she posted on her SNS account that advertisement videos she did not film were being distributed, warning, "I did not film this. I have been receiving many DMs (Direct Messages) lately, but please never click those links to make a purchase. Please be careful."

The videos show Lee Ji-hye eating dried sweet potatoes or promoting underwear products, but these were not actual filmed contents; they were deepfakes.
