Dex Announces Sudden Hiatus from YouTube After 6 Years

Entertainer Kim Jin Young (Dex) has announced that he will be temporarily suspending his YouTube activities.

On the 18th, a video titled 'Putting a comma in my 7-year YouTube journey | Off-Dex with 95z' was released on the YouTube channel 'Dex101'. In the video, Dex met with his same-age friends, YouTuber Mimi-mi-nu and Chef Kwon Sung Jun.

Dex shared the news of his hiatus, stating, "It's not exactly that today is the last video for our channel, but I will be taking a break for the time being. Internally, everything has already been discussed."

He continued, "Rather than facing the end alone, I wanted to be with my friends. I'm not saying I'll never do it again; it's just a short break, but I felt like I wouldn't be able to comfort myself well if I were alone, so I called my friends. This video is like a comma."

Dex explained, "I started YouTube right after my discharge from military service in 2020, and it has already been 6 years. It is a shame to take a break this time. I worked well with the YouTube team this year and was having the most fun while doing YouTube. There are several reasons for this break. There are personal reasons and also issues with my physical condition. I thought it was right to take a break for a while to show a better side of myself. It might feel sudden. Since it's my first time taking such a long break, I also feel some fear. What is certain is that a return within this year seems unlikely," indicating he will rest for at least 6 months.

He added, "In this industry, you can be forgotten even if you rest for just a month or two, which is how big of a decision this is. I didn't spend a long time deliberating. I had the conviction that this is what I must do. I want to do things enjoyably, not while being chased. Since my channel is a place where I can freely do what I want, I believe it is right not to do YouTube if I cannot protect that. I am not stopping to do something specific, but when thinking about this profession and my future, I need to practice selection and concentration. To be honest, I felt that my current position and direction were somewhat ambiguous. When considering which category my strengths lie in, I am dipping my toes into several fields. I thought this year was the timing to focus a bit more on my main area," expressing his firm resolve.
