Kang Bu-ja: My son almost died from sepsis

Actress Kang Bu-ja is set to share the harrowing story of her son, who spent six months in the hospital battling a serious illness shortly after entering middle school. She also revealed that her son, who once hovered between life and death due to hip inflammation followed by sepsis, has since become a researcher at a medical school in the United States.

Kang will appear on the 38th episode of MBN's "Kim Ju-ha's Day and Night," airing on the 15th, to discuss her family's history.

During the broadcast, Kang recalls the time her son was hospitalized for an extended period due to severe inflammation in his hip joint. What she initially believed would be a simple recovery gradually worsened, eventually leading to a life-threatening crisis when sepsis set in.

Recalling those moments, Kang confessed, "My son almost died because sepsis hit him as well. Even now, I can't find the words when I think about it." Given that her young son spent six months in the hospital, the fear and pain the family endured was immense.

Fortunately, her son regained his health. He is currently working as a researcher at a medical school in the U.S., a successful path that has drawn significant attention after his long struggle with illness. Kang is also expected to share a family photo taken during her 70th birthday, expressing her deep affection for her family.

The episode will also cover her 59-year marriage to her husband, Lee Muk-won.

Kang revealed that her husband has managed the household finances since they married, noting, "My husband manages the income, and I receive an allowance to spend." She drew laughter by admitting that when she runs low, she tells him directly, "Give me a little more allowance. I'm running low."

The couple married after a four-year secret office romance. Having been married for 59 years, they will share various anecdotes from their long life together.

When photos of Lee's younger days were revealed, the MCs marveled, saying, "He is so handsome," and "Your husband is a good-looking man." However, Kang gave a lukewarm response, asking, "What do I need a man's face for?", which left the studio in laughter.

She further emphasized, "I didn't marry him because he was handsome," piquing curiosity about the real reasons behind her decision to marry him.

Following this, Kim Ju-ha posed a blunt question to Kang: "To what extent do you have to forgive your husband?" This came after hearing how Kang even understood her husband's unannounced overnight stays during their younger years.
