Kwon Yu-ri teases Yoon Jong-shin over generational slang

The studio erupted in laughter as the unexpected age gap between the class of '88 Yoon Jong-shin and 1989-born Kwon Yu-ri was revealed. The generational divide was playfully bridged through the introduction of new slang used by the younger generation.

In the episode of KBS 2TV's "Happy Together: Glad We're Not Alone" aired on the 14th, MC Yoo Jae Suk, Jang Hang Jun, and Yoon Jong-shin, along with special MC Kwon Yu-ri, met with the Group C participants to judge their performances and share stories.

The episode featured the band 'Anseong-matchum,' composed of freshmen from the class of '26 at Dong-ah Institute of Media and Arts. While chatting with the participants, who are around 20 years old, the topic of school years and age naturally surfaced, highlighting the palpable generational gap.

Yoon Jong-shin introduced himself as being from the "class of '88," to which Yoo Jae Suk immediately quipped, "That's the Hodori class year."

Yoo Jae Suk then dropped a decisive remark.

"Hyung, Yu-ri was born in '89."

Yoon Jong-shin was momentarily speechless. The realization that someone born just one year after he entered university was now performing right next to him as a special MC hit him hard.

Yoon Jong-shin expressed his surprise, asking, "Did I go to university before Yu-ri was even born?" Kwon Yu-ri did not miss the opportunity.

With an adorable expression, she lightly teased Yoon Jong-shin, saying, "Truly Old-Creative (Neulk-keu-keu)."

The catch was that the term 'Neulk-keu-keu' was completely unfamiliar to Yoon Jong-shin's generation.

Kwon Yu-ri looked at Yoon Jong-shin, Jang Hang Jun, and Yoo Jae Suk, saying, "You know, right? They don't know it here," once again highlighting the gap by observing the reactions of the younger participants.

When Yoo Jae Suk asked, "We know. You don't know 'Neulk-keu-keu,' do you?" Yoon Jong-shin attempted to guess the meaning by saying, "Old..." but could not reach the exact definition.

Kwon Yu-ri revealed that 'Neulk-keu-keu' stands for "Old Creator Crew."

As Yoon Jong-shin continued to look bewildered, Yoo Jae Suk wittily responded, "Anyway, it's creative. Even if they're old, they're creative."

The scene turned the generational gap into a source of laughter rather than trying to hide it. As the numbers 'class of '88,' 'class of '26,' and 'born in 1989' overlapped in the studio, the time gap itself became the entertainment.

In particular, Kwon Yu-ri's 'Neulk-keu-keu' joke showcased the fun created when the languages of different generations collide. At the moment Yoon Jong-shin felt alienated by the new slang, Yoo Jae Suk reinterpreted it, bridging the generational gap with wit.
