Park Joon-gyu Says, “After 37 Years of Money Management, Not Even 100,000 Won?” Jin Song-a Replies, “You Were Scammed”

Actor Park Joon-gyu and his wife Jin Song-a clashed over household finances on the June 6 broadcast of MBN's program 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi,' revisiting a dispute that centered on who had managed money during their 37-year marriage and why there was not even 100,000 won left in the bank.

Jin Song-a opened up under the title, 'For 37 years of marriage, I managed the money, but all that came back was my husband's resentment.' Looking back on the couple's earlier years, she said, 'In the old days, film companies gave promissory notes.' Park Joon-gyu then explained how those notes were turned into cash at the time. 'If you went to the Korean Film Council, there was a man there, a staff member. When you gave him the promissory note, he would exchange it for cash. The fee was more than 10 percent. I went with my wife, received the money, and gave all of it to her,' he said.

Jin responded that they had managed to live that way throughout their lives, but said the problem was that men often do not see the detailed realities behind household finances. 'They only think about the amount they themselves earned,' she said, expressing frustration. Park acknowledged that point, saying, 'You think the money that comes in is just sitting there as it is.'

Jin then recalled the day that had upset her so deeply. According to her, Park asked how she had managed the money in such a way that even that amount was gone, adding, 'How much money did I earn?' Jin said she answered, 'Then from now on, you manage the money.' Park, however, replied by asking why he should have to take on something so complicated and bothersome, exposing what Jin described as a mismatch between his criticism and his willingness to handle the work himself.

Park clarified that his reaction was not because they were missing 100 million won or 200 million won, but because he had been told there was not even 100,000 won. Jin explained that the couple's bank account had been empty because difficult circumstances had overlapped while they were producing a musical, and because they had lost 1.2 billion won after being scammed.
