Actors Jin Seon-kyu and Park Bo-kyung buy first home in Hanam
Actors Jin Seon-kyu and Park Bo-kyung have purchased their first home in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province, ending nearly 15 years of living in rental apartments.
After 15 years of living in rental apartments in Namyangju and Goyang, actors Jin Seon-kyu and Park Bo-kyung have purchased their first owned home in Hanam. The couple, who married in 2011, shared the news during the MBC program "Where Is My Home" broadcast on the 29th.
Actors Jin Seon-kyu and Park Bo-kyung have ended nearly 15 years of living in rental apartments and have secured their first owned home in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province. Despite being an actor couple in the spotlight, they have drawn attention for their modest and realistic residential history, having gradually built their foundation by moving residences according to their circumstances.
During the MBC entertainment program "Where Is My Home" broadcast on the 29th, Jin Seon-kyu and Park Bo-kyung appeared alongside MCs Yang Se-chan and Joo Woo-jae to tour residential spaces in the Daehak-ro area of Jongno-gu, Seoul. This marked the first time the couple appeared together on an entertainment program. Jin Seon-kyu noted that they prepared early in the morning as it was their first time appearing on a variety show as a couple, while Park Bo-kyung expressed excitement about participating in an outdoor program.
The most notable moment of the episode was Jin Seon-kyu's candid confession regarding his housing. During the site visits, he explained that today was his first time conducting a proper real estate tour, noting he had not had many opportunities to personally view and select homes. He drew interest from the cast by revealing, "I lived in rental apartments to suit my financial situation, but I recently purchased a house in Hanam."
Jin Seon-kyu disclosed that their first newlyweds' home was a rental apartment in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, and they subsequently lived in Goyang. He explained that in rental apartments, the building and unit numbers are assigned upon move-in, meaning there was no need to personally search for or compare different homes. Even for him, having built public recognition through steady acting work, owning a home was not achieved instantly. The couple chose their residences based on realistic economic conditions while establishing their life's foundation over a long period.
Park Bo-kyung mentioned that touring houses felt unfamiliar and novel, given her experience of living only in apartments. She also revealed that her husband, Jin Seon-kyu, prefers living in a house. When asked if she would follow her husband's suggestion to live in a house, she elicited laughter with the witty response, "Since we can't break up." It was a moment that showed the natural chemistry of the couple who have been together for a long time.
The pair's connection dates back to their time at the Korea National University of Arts and their activities in theater troupes. Having developed their love on the stage, they married in 2011 and have one son and one daughter. Jin Seon-kyu left a strong impression on the public when he won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards in 2017 for the movie "The Outlaws." His achievements are the result of long-accumulated efforts, building acting expertise by moving between theater and film sets since his unknown days.
Park Bo-kyung has also steadily expanded her acting range. After debuting in the 2008 movie "Romance Comic," she established her presence in works such as the tvN drama "Little Women" and the Netflix series "The Art of Sarah." Notably, at this year's 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards, Jin Seon-kyu was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for the Netflix series "Aema," and Park Bo-kyung was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for "The Art of Sarah." While both were nominated at the same awards ceremony, Park Bo-kyung took home the trophy, and Jin Seon-kyu left a deep impression by shedding tears while watching his wife on stage.
While achieving individual success as actors, they have also practiced sharing as a couple. This past May, the two showed a warm side by donating 10 million won to the Bobath Children's Rehabilitation Center. Their recent confession of ending a long period of living in rental apartments to secure a new home in Hanam carries meaning beyond simple real estate news. Because there were times they managed their lives according to economic conditions alongside the moments they were applauded in front of stages and cameras, the establishment of their new home feels like an even more special fruit of their labor.
