Shincheonji Group Jung Eun-woo, “A Taoist Master Decided the Group Name—Cheap Costumes”
Jung Eun-woo, a former member of girl groups Pristin and HINAPIA, has released additional revelations regarding fraudulent conditions, including religious involvement in the group's naming process and inadequate support during her activities.
Jung Eun-woo, formerly of the girl groups Pristin and HINAPIA, has made further revelations regarding the experiences she went through during her past activities. Having previously claimed that HINAPIA was "close to being a Shincheonji group," she has now expressed dissatisfaction by specifically mentioning everything from the group name decision process to stage costumes and opportunities to appear on music shows. Jung Eun-woo is causing a stir by claiming that the actual situation differed from what was promised, stating, "It was a scam."
On the 13th, Jung Eun-woo posted a video on her SNS along with the text, "I've brought part 2. After posting part 1, I received many shocking reports via DM, but they are still going around telling lies. Please be careful." Having received various reports following her previous revelation, Jung Eun-woo brought up her experiences surrounding her past group activities again through the additional video.
In the video, Jung Eun-woo claimed experiences regarding the group name decision process that were difficult to understand. She said, "They suddenly told me to go to Jirisan Mountain to attain enlightenment. After that, they said they would give me some kind of energy," and "After each person went to the Taoist master to receive energy and held a meeting, they said our name had to be 'HINAPIA'." This is a claim suggesting that religious and spiritual elements were involved in the selection process of the group name.
She also poured out dissatisfaction regarding activity support. Claiming that opportunities to appear on music shows were insufficient, Jung Eun-woo said, "If there were 7 music shows, it was whether we would go to 2 or not." She also mentioned stage costumes and budget issues. She claimed, "Even when wearing clothes, they were the cheapest ones from a shopping mall," and "The budget was also given too little, and the claim that 'everything is prepared so you won't regret it with money' was all a lie." She stated that there was a huge gap between the explanations she heard during the preparation for debut and activities and the actual support provided.
Jung Eun-woo also revealed her honest feelings regarding whether she intends to resume her career as a singer. She said, "I failed with my first group, and after being scammed with the second, I didn't want to do it anymore," and "It is regrettable, but at that time, I thought perhaps this is not my path." She explained that the experience of challenging group activities several times but not achieving the expected results influenced her decision to give up on her dream of being a singer.
Previously, on the 6th, Jung Eun-woo caused controversy by claiming via SNS that HINAPIA was "close to being a Shincheonji group." In this additional revelation, as she mentioned the group name decision process and activity support issues, suspicions surrounding her past activities have resurfaced. However, since the specific relationship with the religious organization or the truth of the related suspicions cannot be determined solely by Jung Eun-woo's claims, it is a matter that requires additional fact-checking.
Jung Eun-woo first became known through her appearance on the Mnet audition program 'PRODUCE 101' in 2016 and debuted as a member of the girl group Pristin the following year. After Pristin disbanded in 2019, she re-debuted as HINAPIA with some members, but HINAPIA also suspended activities the following year. Recently, she shared her current status, working as a consultation manager at a plastic surgery clinic.
As Jung Eun-woo, who experienced girl group activities twice, brings up her past memories late, interest in the activity environment and support system at that time is growing. In particular, since the religious-related claims and the activity support issues are matters of different dimensions, it is necessary to examine what the specific facts are rather than focusing only on the provocative revelations themselves.
