Jung Young Joo recalls fainting after son required 1,400 stitches for facial injury
Musical actress Jung Young Joo shares the story of her son's severe accident and his resilient return to beatboxing despite lasting scars.
Musical actress Jung Young Joo recalled a major accident her son experienced during his first year of middle school. The surgery to stitch his entire face required 1,400 stitches, and Jung, who sent her son to the emergency room at the time, confessed that she fainted from the shock and has gaps in her memory of the event.

Appearing on the YouTube channel My Geum Hee on the 18th, Jung named her parents and her son as her most precious people. Regarding her son, who is now 25 years old, she expressed her deep affection, saying, "I must stay a bit healthier so that I can support him in deciding what he wants to do."
However, a scar that is not easily erased remains. Jung revealed that "scars still remain on his face even now," and although they tried various methods to remove them, they have not disappeared completely. She added that her son also lives with the pain associated with those scars.
The situation during the accident was even more severe. Jung recalled the shock of the moment, saying, "When my son was rushed to the emergency room, it felt like my world was collapsing. I couldn't keep my senses. I have gaps in my memory; they say I fainted, but I don't remember."
Even while the son was unconscious, the facial wounds were so severe that standard treatment was difficult. Jung revealed that during the surgery, she learned that muscles and nerves had to be sutured, and it took a total of 1,400 stitches to meticulously sew his entire face. In particular, she said her respect for the medical staff grew after seeing the plastic surgeon maintain the same position for 6 to 7 hours to perform the surgery.
The accident occurred while her son was in the midst of being obsessed with beatboxing. The son, who loved beatboxing so much that he was even taking lessons at the time, lost five lower teeth due to the accident. He had to wait about a year for his gums to regrow, during which time he had to live with missing teeth.
However, her son did not give up. Even without teeth, he continued to practice beatboxing, and after recovering his teeth with implants, he practiced again despite the technical difficulties and eventually succeeded. "Even though he is my child, I was surprised," Jung said, expressing pride in her son. For Jung, the sight of her son grasping the thing he loved once again, while carrying the scars on his face and the memory of the accident, served as the strongest evidence of resilience.
