Broadcaster Kim Gura has revealed an unpleasant encounter he experienced on a flight returning from a family trip to Japan. Although the situation involved a brief moment regarding a snack bag, Kim expressed displeasure at the other passenger's rude behavior, noting that the individual tapped him on the stomach while speaking to him disrespectfully. Kim emphasized that the attitude was offensive regardless of whether the passenger recognized him or not, as it lacked basic manners.
In a video released on the YouTube channel GreeGura on the 19th, Kim Gura arrived at a recording session 10 minutes later than scheduled. After apologizing, he explained that his delay was caused by flight delays while returning from a trip to Hokkaido, Japan, with his family. The conversation naturally shifted to the anecdote that occurred during their return flight.
While on the plane, Kim had placed snacks purchased at a duty-free shop in the overhead bin above his seat. Upon arrival at Incheon International Airport, passengers began to stand up to collect their belongings, and Kim was also preparing to disembark. During the process of retrieving the snacks, one bag fell down.
After picking up the bag, Kim discovered there was another bag inside that was identical to the one his wife had purchased. While his wife took it, it turned out the bag actually belonged to the male passenger sitting next to them. While the mix-up of items was a situation that could easily happen, what upset Kim was the man's reaction.
Recalling the situation, Kim noted that the man appeared to be about five or six years older than him. "He tapped my stomach and said, 'Hey,'" Kim said. He explained that if the man simply wanted to claim the item, he could have said, "That's mine," but instead, he spoke rudely while touching Kim's body.
Kim did not hide his momentary flash of anger, stating, "I felt a surge of rage." He noted that while he could have overlooked a simple mix-up of snack bags, he felt the man's actions treated him as if he were someone who could be handled carelessly. His grievance was that when an error occurs or items are misplaced, one should explain with words rather than resorting to physical contact and harsh expressions.
When Director Kim In-man asked if the individual had acted that way without knowing who Kim Gura was, Kim drew a line, stating that his identity was not the core issue. "It doesn't matter who I am. Even if I were twenty years old, it shouldn't be done," he emphasized. He suggested that standards of etiquette should not change based on a person's social status, age, or recognition, adding that the passenger's manners were "not very good."
This anecdote illustrates how minor situations in public spaces can escalate into conflicts. While items getting mixed up during luggage retrieval can happen to anyone, the method of resolution is a different matter. There is a clear distinction between informing someone that an item belongs to them and speaking rudely while tapping their body. The point Kim Gura took issue with was closer to the man's attitude and the lack of basic respect rather than the incident involving the snack bag itself.
Kim Gura married a non-celebrity in 1997 and had a son, GREE, but divorced in 2015. He remarried a non-celebrity who is 12 years younger in 2020 and welcomed a daughter the following year. There is a 23-year age gap between GREE and his younger sister. Interest is growing in why Kim Gura felt such anger following the disclosure of this unpleasant experience during his return from the trip to Japan.
