Kim Kwang Kyu handles Yoo Jae Suk's hair loss teasing with a surprise gift

Actor Kim Kwang Kyu uses humor to navigate hair loss jokes from Yoo Jae Suk on 'Hangout with Yoo,' even surprising him with a practical birthday gift.

Actor Kim Kwang Kyu responded nonchalantly to repeated 'hair loss' teasing from entertainer Yoo Jae Suk, even turning the situation into laughter by preparing a birthday gift. Kim's self-deprecating attitude of practicing 'social life' in front of Yoo, who is five years younger, became a comedic highlight of the broadcast.

Kim Kwang-kyu's Surprising Birthday Gift for Yoo Jae-suk Amid Hair Loss Teasing

In the 343rd episode of the MBC variety show 'Hangout with Yoo' aired on the 22nd, the 'Nolmogol Youth Association'—consisting of Yoo Jae Suk, Haha, Heo Kyung Hwan, Joo Woo-jae, and Kwak Beom—visited the lonely older brother, Kim Kwang Kyu.

The group visited Kim, who was in seclusion due to a so-called 'factional struggle' surrounding a village head election. Instead of a standard greeting, Yoo Jae Suk immediately checked Kim's hair, joking, "Many new sprouts have grown today." He utilized Kim's physical complex regarding hair loss as variety show material.

Heo Kyung Hwan also joined in the teasing. When Kim tried to serve boiled eggs as a snack to the members, Heo joked, "The egg is moving," prompting Kim to retaliate by hitting Heo with a backscratcher.

Yoo Jae Suk, not missing the 'egg' theme, went a step further. Saying, "I should eat a bigger one," he reached out to touch Kim's head; unexpectedly, Kim offered his head to Yoo without much resistance.

As the members wondered why Kim wouldn't say anything to "Jae Suk hyung," Kim delivered a kick and remarked, "Isn't this just practicing social life? This is how you live." It was a moment of unique self-satire, caricaturing his own position in a broadcasting industry where senior-junior and colleague relationships are intricately intertwined.

Yoo Jae Suk burst into laughter at Kim's attitude and gave him a hug.

Kim's 'social life' did not end there. He noted, "I heard someone has a birthday tomorrow," and presented a gift for Yoo, whose birthday falls the following day.

When Yoo was surprised by the unexpected gesture, Kim explained, "It's not a luxury item, but I've received so much help from you over the years." The gift turned out to be an underwear set. The practical choice once again turned the scene into a sea of laughter.

However, Kim was not merely a victim that day. During a raw egg luck-draw game, the egg Yoo chose happened to be raw, resulting in Kim being showered with egg on his forehead. He suspected Yoo, asking, "You did that on purpose, didn't you?" before screaming in frustration.

When Heo Kyung Hwan teased him again, saying, "This is truly hitting an egg on top of an egg," Kim punished him with a kick, completing his character as 'the older brother who doesn't just take it.'

Later, as the group headed to the town center, Yoo offered an unexpected evaluation. "In my view, Kwang Kyu hyung has taken Park Myung-soo hyung's place. He's a bit kinder, but he has a temper," Yoo said, praising Kim's variety show presence that combined a hint of Park's energy with his own unique, human roughness.

Kim smiled brightly at the compliment.

A surprise birthday party for Yoo was also held at a restaurant. When Joo Woo-jae and Kwak Beom took longer than expected to return from an errand, Yoo suspected they were up to something, only to laugh loudly upon realizing it was a birthday event for himself.

Although Kim, born in 1967, is five years older than Yoo, born in 1972, the broadcast established a variety show hierarchy centered around Yoo. Rather than taking this heavily, Kim builds a unique character by converting his age and seniority into comedic material.

Ultimately, the 'social life' Kim displayed was less about simple humiliation and more a display of seasoned comedic skill. By accepting teasing with laughter while reclaiming his presence with kicks and gifts, Kim created a unique dynamic that meshed perfectly with the relationship-based style of 'Hangout with Yoo.'
