Kim Soo-hyun reveals giving up acting dreams for Yoon Suk-min

Kim Soo-hyun, the wife of former baseball star Yoon Suk-min, revealed her past aspirations of becoming an actress and shared how her life's path shifted following her marriage to Yoon. Known as the daughter of actress Kim Ye-ryeong, Kim stated that she majored in theater and film but is now a mother of two.

During the SBS variety program 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny' broadcast on the 25th, Yoon and his wife joined the show to share glimpses of their married life and daily family routines.

When Kim appeared, the MCs praised her beauty, comparing her to actresses Lee Young-ae and Go Youn Jung. In response, Yoon teased, “She used to be much prettier, but now she's a bit gone. She was truly beautiful when we were dating,” drawing laughter from the studio. While it was a blunt joke typical of a long-married couple, his memory of his wife's appearance during their dating days remained sincere.

Introducing herself, Kim said, “I am Kim Soo-hyun. I have been introduced many times as the daughter of actress Kim Ye-ryeong.” As Kim Ye-ryeong is a veteran actress in film and drama, Kim grew up in an environment closely tied to the entertainment industry.

Reflecting on her past, Kim shared, “I majored in acting. I was just about to start my career when Yoon Suk-min snatched me away.” She added, “Regrettably, I gave up my dream of being an actress and became a housewife raising two children.”

Kim's confession drew significant interest, as she had prepared for a career in acting only to choose a completely different path through marriage. Before her current role as the wife of a famous baseball player, she had been actively preparing to enter the entertainment industry.

Hearing this, Yoon admitted, “I have no choice but to agree with the part about being snatched. I think I liked her very much back then,” acknowledging his proactive approach during their courtship. He continued to show affection, asking, “Doesn't she look pretty at a glance?”

However, Yoon's signature blunt humor continued. He sent the studio into fits of laughter by saying, “If she had become an actress, wouldn't it have been hard to succeed? She made the right choice marrying me.” He jokingly framed his wife's abandoned acting career as a 'successful life choice' resulting from her marriage to him.

Kim also explained what drew her to Yoon. “I don't look at looks. I like people with small eyes,” she said, adding, “I like people who have a pretty smile and a mischievous face.” She noted that she was attracted to his expression, aura, and playful personality rather than purely physical traits.

Though their relationship began from different worlds—a professional athlete and a member of a celebrity family—their focus has since shifted to raising their two children. Yoon was a star player who served as the ace for the KIA Tigers, represented the national team, and even pursued opportunities in Major League Baseball. Since retiring, he has remained in the public eye through broadcasting and various personal activities.

Even after stepping away from her acting dreams, Kim has remained in the spotlight as part of a prominent celebrity family. In this broadcast, by revealing her history as an acting major and her courtship with Yoon, she showed that before her identity as 'Yoon Suk-min's wife,' she was once an aspiring actress.
