Kouri Yuka to spark love triangle in tvN drama '100 Days of Deception'
Japanese actress Kouri Yuka has joined the cast of the tvN weekend drama '100 Days of Deception,' introducing a new romantic complication as her character develops a crush on Kim Tae-ung.

Japanese actress Kouri Yuka has drawn viewers' attention with her first appearance in the tvN weekend drama '100 Days of Deception.' Appearing as the secretary to Jin Seon-kyu's character, she has joined as a new axis in a burgeoning love triangle, revealing a one-sided love for Park Jin-young and a subtle wariness toward Kim You-jung. Interest is mounting to see what kind of presence the actress, who has built her career in Japan, will establish in a Korean drama.
In the episode broadcast on the 25th, Kouri Yuka made her debut as Yamada Hanako, the secretary to Sato Shinichi (Jin Seon-kyu), the Administrative Director of the Government-General of Korea. Yamada secured her position with the help of her uncle, the Internal Affairs Director of the Government-General of Korea, and is portrayed as having a somewhat clumsy personality. The character was introduced as a figure who will create new emotional lines in the drama, especially with her unrequited love for Sato's son, Kim Tae-ung (Park Jin-young).
Yamada's emotions were revealed without reservation from her very first appearance. While visiting the translation office of the Government-General of Korea, she encountered Lee Ga-gyeong (Kim You-jung) for the first time. However, she could not hide her disappointment when Kim Tae-ung, whom she expected to see, was not present. Yamada's reaction, appearing as though she had come specifically to see Kim Tae-ung, suggested the depth of her unrequited affection.
An intriguing point was that Lee Ga-gyeong seemed already aware of Yamada's existence. From their first meeting, the two women exchanged glances that suggested they were conscious of one another. While full-scale conflict has not yet unfolded, the direction of the relationship between the two women with Kim Tae-ung between them has piqued curiosity.
Kouri Yuka expressed the character's personality by oscillating between Yamada's honest displays of emotion and her subtle wariness toward Lee Ga-gyeong. As a role that injects new tension between the central characters, Yamada's presence is expected to grow as her relationship with Kim Tae-ung progresses.
Kouri Yuka is an actress who has built her acting career in Japan, appearing in works such as 'Love Is Light,' 'The Fukudamura Incident,' and 'Shōgun.' Through this production, she is introducing herself to Korean viewers by playing a Japanese character set against a period drama backdrop.
'100 Days of Deception' has added a new variable in the form of Yamada Hanako amidst the intertwining relationships and emotions of its characters. Attention is focused on how Yamada's unrequited love for Kim Tae-ung will impact her relationship with Lee Ga-gyeong, and how Kouri Yuka will portray the character's future evolution.
