Kwak Si-yang and former Lovelyz member Yoo Ji-ae to marry Nov 28

Actor Kwak Si-yang and former Lovelyz member Yoo Ji-ae to wed on November 28 after a year of dating, keeping their relationship private until now.

Actor Kwak Si-yang (real name Kwak Myeong-jin, 39) and actress Yoo Ji-ae (33), formerly of the group Lovelyz, are getting married after dating for approximately one year. The two, who never even had a public dating announcement, are being viewed as making an unusual move in the entertainment industry by announcing their marriage news before revealing their relationship.

Kwak Si-yang and Lovelyz's Yu Ji-ae to Marry on November 28 Without Prior Dating Rumors, Agencies Confirm

Kwak Si-yang's agency, Nine Ato Entertainment, and Yoo Ji-ae's agency, K-Plus, announced on the 3rd, “The two have promised a future together based on deep trust and love for one another.” The couple is scheduled to hold their wedding ceremony on November 28, and the ceremony will be held privately, attended only by family members from both sides, relatives, and close acquaintances.

Although the two had been dating for about a year, they did not disclose their relationship to the outside world during that time. As a result, no dating rumors surfaced before the marriage announcement, and the news came as a sudden surprise to the public. Compared to the recent trend in the entertainment industry where couples increasingly reveal their relationships through SNS and broadcasts from the dating stage, they maintained their relationship while protecting their privacy as much as possible.

Originally a model, Kwak Si-yang made his official debut as an actor in 2014 through director Lee Song-hee-il's film "Night Flight." Since then, he has built a presence in various genres through dramas such as "Persevere, Goo Hae Ra," "Oh My Ghost," "Second To Last Love," "ALICE," "Lovers of the Red Sky," "Café Minamdang," and "Flex X Cop," and has also expanded his range to the big screen with films like "Jangsaari: Forgotten Heroes."

In particular, Kwak Si-yang has constructed different character nuances in every work, spanning romance, action, and investigative dramas. A notable characteristic is that he does not merely consume his physical strengths gained from his modeling career as a simple image, but adjusts his acting tone according to the genre.

In the KBS2 weekend mini-series "A Love Other Than Yours," which premieres on the 12th, he is set to show another transformation by playing the role of Seo Ju-hyeok, the representative of a law firm.

Yoo Ji-ae first became known to the public through the INFINITE reality program "INFINITE! You Are My Oppa" in 2010. After releasing her solo song "Delight" in 2013, she officially debuted as a member of Lovelyz in 2014.

Lovelyz formed a major trend among K-pop girl groups in the mid-to-late 2010s, releasing hits such as "Hello," "Ah-Chu," "Destiny," and "Now, Us" in succession. With their lyrical melodies and refreshing yet delicate team color, Lovelyz established a distinct musical identity in the girl group market at the time, and Yoo Ji-ae also secured public recognition through the group's activities.

After group activities, she expanded her field into acting. She has broadened her career from singer to actress by appearing in films such as "Pinwheel" and "4 Minutes 44 Seconds," as well as dramas like "The Escape of the Seven" and "The Third Marriage."

The marriage of the two draws attention as a case where the life paths of two individuals, who started from different points as a model and an idol and settled as actors, merge into one. Just as Kwak Si-yang has expanded his filmography as an actor by crossing various genres, Yoo Ji-ae has also reconstructed her career by challenging the new field of acting following her activities with Lovelyz.

While celebrity marriages are often consumed as public events, the two focused on their respective activities without revealing their relationship during their dating period. As their relationship, which was first formalized through the marriage announcement, leads to a real union as a married couple this November, interest is rising in what new sides the two actors will show in their respective acting careers after marriage.
