Lee Sang-yeob, looking at Lee Seung-yeon's photos from her prime: "Why is it so dry now?"
During the tvN show 'Wonder Pick', cast members Kim Tae-hoon, Lee Sang-yeob, and Lee Seung-yeon looked back at their past photos, leading to humorous comparisons between their younger and current selves.
The studio buzzed as photos from Lee Seung-yeon's prime were revealed. As her fresh beauty from her 20s, which looks different from her current appearance, appeared on the screen, Lee Sang-yeob openly marveled, saying, "Noona, you were truly beautiful." Although much time has passed, Lee Seung-yeon's presence in the photos remained intense.
In the tvN show 'Wonder Pick' broadcast on the 5th, a segment was prepared to look through the cast members' past photos. First, a photo of Kim Tae-hoon in his mid-30s was revealed. Seeing his fresh appearance without glasses at the time, Kim Tae-hoon himself laughed, saying, "Looking at it now, I look almost like a child."
Lee Seung-yeon looked at Kim Tae-hoon's gaze in the photo and described it as "a gaze that could change the world," drawing laughter. Kim Tae-hoon also admitted, looking back at that time, that his gaze was like, "Just let one person get caught." Following this, when a photo of Lee Sang-yeob at age 25 was revealed, the atmosphere changed completely. With a much younger and more delicate appearance than now, Kim Tae-hoon said he felt a resemblance to Eric, while Lee Seung-yeon marveled, "He looks delicate and pure."
In particular, various jokes were poured out regarding Lee Sang-yeob's skin at that time. When Kim Tae-hoon said, "A hot spring erupted from the face. Moisture is coming from everywhere," Lee Sang-yeob responded, "It was like that back then, so why is it so dry now?" drawing bursts of laughter. It was a moment where the present and past of the three people were strangely compared through a single past photo.
The real twist came at the end. When an advertisement photo from Lee Seung-yeon's prime was revealed, the reactions of Lee Sang-yeob and Kim Tae-hoon erupted simultaneously. Looking at the photo, Lee Sang-yeob marveled, "Noona, you were truly beautiful," and Kim Tae-hoon explained that filming advertisements for telecommunications companies or telephones at that time meant being the top actor and model of the era. Lee Seung-yeon also showed her characteristic cool reaction, saying, "I was doing well back then. I went out of the house every day."
While revisiting Lee Seung-yeon's style from the 1990s, discussions about the makeup trends of that time continued. Lee Sang-yeob said that even looking at it now, the makeup does not look outdated, and Lee Seung-yeon explained that back then, heavy base makeup was popular, covering the skin more than 3mm thick. She recalled that overlining the lips by more than 3mm was also the standard.
Kim Tae-hoon added more laughter with a joke that back then, instead of rubbing it off, you peeled the makeup off. There was also talk about how makeup methods changed with the spread of color TVs and the emergence of digital cameras and webcams. The explanation continued that even before the term 'ulzzang' appeared, there was already a culture in the 1980s and 90s of taking photos at angles that suited oneself. While trends have changed, the reason Lee Seung-yeon's prime photos are still talked about remains clear. It is because Lee Seung-yeon's face and atmosphere, as the top advertising star of that time, were intense enough to pop out of the screen.
