Lee Seo Jin teases Seo In-young's appearance: 'Are you E.T.?'
Lee Seo Jin delivers a blunt critique of singer Seo In-young's recent arm liposuction, sparking hilarious banter on SBS's 'My Grumpy Secretary'.
Actor Lee Seo Jin showcased his signature blunt wit by making unfiltered jokes about singer Seo In-young's changed appearance. When Seo In-young boasted about her noticeably thinner arms following arm liposuction, Lee Seo Jin delivered an unexpected evaluation, saying, "Your face is chubby, but only your arms are thin," leading to their characteristic bickering.

In the SBS variety program 'My Grumpy Secretary' aired on the 11th, Seo In-young appeared as the 'my star' and conversed with Lee Seo Jin and Kim Kwang Kyu.
During the episode, Seo In-young revealed that she recently underwent arm liposuction and highlighted her significantly slimmer arms. While she expressed satisfaction, saying, "My arms have become completely thin," Lee Seo Jin's reaction was quite different from what was expected.
Looking back and forth between Seo In-young's arms and her face, Lee Seo Jin fired a direct shot: "Your arms are thin, but your face is chubby." It was a comment that seemed to instantly neutralize Seo In-young's pride regarding her physical transformation.
Seo In-young immediately reacted indignantly, asking, "What did you say?" She explained, "It's because the fat hasn't left my face yet," but Lee Seo Jin did not stop there. As Kim Kwang Kyu joined in, unable to hold back his laughter, the studio atmosphere naturally flowed into the spontaneous jokes typical of variety shows.
During the conversation, the commonality that both Lee Seo Jin and Seo In-young have dimples also became a topic of discussion. When Kim Kwang Kyu discovered this, Lee Seo Jin explained that for people with dimples, facial procedures must be approached carefully. He noted that if the facial contours are handled excessively, existing dimples could disappear.
Seo In-young agreed with this point. Lee Seo Jin then used this as material for further teasing, saying, "That's why your face hasn't thinned out much," drawing a reaction from Seo In-young.
When Seo In-young mentioned she felt weak because she hadn't been able to eat properly lately, Lee Seo Jin instead remarked, "Your face is chubby, so it looks good." This showcased Lee Seo Jin's unique way of speaking—seemingly criticizing her appearance but ultimately balancing it with a comment implying she looks healthy.
Ultimately, Seo In-young burst into laughter, saying, "This is annoying," and complained once more, "The fat in my face really won't go away." However, Lee Seo Jin remained unfazed. He even drove the studio into fits of laughter by describing her as looking "like E.T.," saying, "Your face is chubby but your arms are thin. It's a bit abnormal."
Seo In-young fired back strongly, saying, "Don't be funny. What are you talking talking about?" but soon asked, "Is it really that much?" as if trying to confirm if she actually looked that way. Lee Seo Jin stood by his assessment, stating, "Your face looks healthy, but your arms look too thin."
Nevertheless, Lee Seo Jin added, "It's good because you look healthy. You can just edit the photos."
Watching the two clash, Kim Kwang Kyu eventually shook his head with a smile. Although the topic of appearance can be sensitive, the scene was naturally consumed as a joke created by their personalities and their relationship on screen.
Seo In-young, who debuted as a member of Jewelry in 2002 and gained public recognition through hits like 'One More Time,' has expanded her career as a solo singer and shown a strong personality in variety shows. As someone who built a 'tough girl' image through her direct speech and bold actions, she once again revealed her unique character by reacting immediately to Lee Seo Jin's blunt jokes about her looks.
Lee Seo Jin has also built a unique variety character through Na Yeong-seok PD's shows, such as 'Grandpas Over Flowers,' 'Youn's Kitchen,' and 'Seojin's,' with his nonchalant attitude, cynical jokes, and direct way of speaking that catches others off guard. In particular, his method of bluntly pointing out the appearance or behavior of guests he is close to, while balancing it with praise or consideration at the end, has become his established variety show style.
In this broadcast, the intersection of these two characters turned the spontaneous argument into a highlight, going beyond a simple evaluation of appearance. Rather than the fact of the procedure itself, it was Lee Seo Jin's direct hits and Seo In-young's immediate counterattacks that amplified the fun of the show.
