Seo In-young Says She Once Imitated Christina Aguilera After Criticizing Rosé Lookalike
On E Channel’s “Seo In-young's Trend Curmudgeon,” Seo In-young questioned a Chinese influencer’s imitation of BLACKPINK’s Rosé, then recalled openly copying Christina Aguilera’s style when she was younger. She said she developed her own style as she got older.
Singer Seo In-young, formerly of Jewelry, said she once openly copied Christina Aguilera’s style after questioning a Chinese influencer’s imitation of BLACKPINK’s Rosé.
The discussion took place on the third episode of E Channel’s variety show “Seo In-young's Trend Curmudgeon,” broadcast on the 15th. Seo, Mimiminu and guest Moon Hee-joon were discussing idols when the program introduced a Chinese influencer who had modeled her look on Rosé.
The influencer appeared at an event in clothes and a style similar to Rosé’s, and was also invited to a pop-up store event, where she spoke with fans and signed autographs. Seo reacted coolly to the example.
“She doesn’t look the same,” Seo said. Moon described the influencer as “just another blonde person.” Seo added, “Why would someone really do that?”
As the conversation continued, Seo recalled her own past. “I’ve done that before, too,” she said, explaining that she had liked Christina Aguilera. “I really liked Christina Aguilera and openly copied her,” she said.
Seo said her approach to style changed over time. “As I got older and my own style took shape, I increasingly felt, ‘Let’s hold on to what’s mine,’” she said.
Seo acknowledged that she once closely followed a star she admired, before developing a style of her own.
