Seong-bin, daughter of Sung Dong Il, now a high school senior

Seong-bin, daughter of actor Sung Dong Il, reveals her growth as a high school senior majoring in modern dance after pursuing her own path.

Seong-bin, the daughter of actor Sung Dong Il, is drawing attention once again by revealing her significantly grown-up current status. Seong-bin, who gained nationwide recognition through the Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation variety show "Dad! Where Are We Going?" during her childhood, has now become a high school senior majoring in modern dance, walking her own path.

On the 21st, Sung Dong Il's wife Park Kyung-hye posted a photo taken with her daughter Seong-bin on her social media, writing, "How long has it been since our last two-shot... Fighting forever~"

In the photo, Seong-bin shows a much more mature appearance, wearing a school uniform and striking various poses. Above all, there is a significant gap between the bright and playful image she showed on broadcasts during her childhood and her current atmosphere. The fact that the little girl who used to express her emotions fearlessly to her father Sung Dong Il on "Dad! Where Are We Going?" has now grown into a high school student majoring in the arts makes viewers truly feel the passage of time.

The reason Seong-bin's current status is even more interesting goes beyond simple physical changes. It is known that she attended a general high school but decided to transfer to an arts high school on her own, submitting her application based on her own judgment despite her family's discouragement.

Appearing on the YouTube channel "Sul Bitneun Yoonjumo" last June, Seong-bin revealed, "Just hours before the deadline, I took a taxi by myself and submitted my application." She added that the entire family was against it. She recalled that at the time, Sung Dong Il was also angry that his daughter made a decision independently without consulting the family.

That choice eventually led to the specific career path of modern dance. Seong-bin is currently a senior at an arts high school majoring in modern dance, and Sung Dong Il has expressed extraordinary pride, describing her change as having happened to a degree that "changed the world."

In particular, while mentioning that his daughter's physical conditions were not advantageous for dance from the start, Sung Dong Il explained that Seong-bin overcame this through significant effort. Sung Dong Il emphasized her sincerity, stating that the fact she worked hard enough to participate in competitions was important, even if she does not necessarily pursue dance as a lifelong livelihood.

This demonstrates that Seong-bin's career choice was not merely a hobby or an experience gained as the child of a celebrity. The process of submitting the application herself despite family opposition and continuing to major in dance through her senior year of high school contains both responsibility for her choice and continuous effort.

Seong-bin also has another special history. She is a person whose growth process was largely revealed to the public through "Dad! Where Are We Going?" during her childhood. While the honest and bold appearance she showed while traveling with her father on the program received great love, she has also confessed that those broadcast scenes feel somewhat burdensome after time has passed.

Seong-bin candidly said she feels embarrassed that new friends who watched the broadcast back then feel as if they already know her well, and that there are times when her childhood self feels like a sort of "dark history." This means she feels complex emotions between her current self and her past image, rather than unconditionally accepting her childhood fame as a mere memory.

Her older brother Sung Joon also found his sister's transformation unfamiliar. In a video released last June, Sung Joon joked, "I couldn't recognize her either," when Seong-bin appeared, reacting as if there was a huge change between his past sister and his current sister. Regarding the shy Seong-bin in front of the camera, he even remarked, "I'm not used to this version of Bin-i."

The most distinct change Seong-bin has shown in the process of transitioning from a childhood broadcast star to a teenage artist is that she has become "a person who chooses for herself." The fact that she decided her career path by putting aside her father Sung Dong Il's fame and her family's opinions shows that she can no longer be explained merely as "Sung Dong Il's daughter" being consumed on television.

Sung Dong Il also views his daughter with special affection. He has stated that Seong-bin is the child who expresses the most affection for her family, both then and now, and expressed high expectations because she is a child who accomplishes things no one else would think of.

More than 10 years have passed since "Dad! Where Are We Going?" first aired. The children who used to playfully tease their fathers in front of the camera have now grown into young adults choosing their own lives, and among them, Seong-bin has chosen her own language: modern dance.

This is the same reason why the recently released school uniform photo is drawing attention. Beyond a simple "she's grown so much" sentiment, the photo captures the process of a child once familiar to the public building her own career and identity.

For Seong-bin, the label "Sung Dong Il's daughter" is now merely a starting point. Moving beyond the memories of "Dad! Where Are We Going?" to her life as a high school senior studying modern dance, interest is growing to see how she will grow on stage.
