Infidelity allegations against rapper Yang Hong-won spark scrutiny of wife's past comments
Rapper Yang Hong-won is facing infidelity allegations just five days after his wedding, causing his wife Won Hyeon-ju's past comments about dating rappers to resurface. While his agency denies the claims, the couple's relationship is under scrutiny following recent controversies.
Rapper Yang Hong-won faces infidelity allegations five days after his wedding on the 18th, leading to renewed attention on past YouTube remarks by his wife, Won Hyeon-ju. While his agency, AP Alchemy, admitted Yang visited a motel with another woman on the 23rd, they denied infidelity and claimed the whistleblower is attempting extortion.
Rapper Yang Hong-won has been embroiled in infidelity allegations just five days after holding his wedding, leading to a resurgence of interest in past remarks made by his wife, Won Hyeon-ju. In a YouTube broadcast prior to their marriage, Won candidly shared that regarding his dating days, he was "not much of a boyfriend." While the comment was intended as a joke between the couple at the time, it is drawing renewed attention in light of the recent allegations.
On the 5th of last month, the YouTube channel 'Egen Man Swings' released a video titled "Chaotic Marriage Life Behind-the-Scenes Revealed Before the Wedding." The video featured Yang Hong-won and Won Hyeon-ju discussing various topics ranging from their dating period to their married life. Won, who has stayed by Yang's side for a long time, drew attention by speaking honestly about her experiences as his partner.
During the broadcast, Swings praised Won for remaining unchanged even after Yang became famous. Won revealed that she had even written letters to Yang out of concern while watching him over the years. The segment highlighted the relationship between the two, who entered marriage after a long-term relationship.
The atmosphere became more interesting when Swings asked questions comparing Yang's dating life to his married life. When Swings asked Won, "Is Hong-won different as a husband compared to being a boyfriend?" she replied without hesitation, "He is a different person. It's like 'Who are you?' He is not much of a boyfriend." Yang also elicited laughter by acknowledging his wife's assessment, saying, "I really am not much."
Yang then requested Won to tell other women, "Hyeon-ju, please tell them. Tell girls to avoid dating rappers if possible." Won immediately shouted, "Please don't date rappers if possible!" to which Swings added, "Don't trust rappers!" Swings continued the lighthearted conversation by joking that women had said similar things to him when breaking up with him.
Yang also shared his thoughts on dating a rapper, suggesting that if one is to "catch a rapper and make them truly yours," they should do so with the understanding that the rapper's perceived world is not everything. He spoke about how rappers can appear immature, mentioning senior rappers in the process. While these remarks were treated as jokes regarding the difficulties of life in the entertainment industry and dating at the time, the context of his words is being re-examined following the recent controversy.
The controversy began on the 23rd when an allegation surfaced that Yang Hong-won accompanied another woman to a motel. His agency, AP Alchemy, admitted that the two went to a motel together but denied the infidelity allegations, stating that no sexual acts occurred in the room. The agency further claimed that the whistleblower was blackmailing Yang Hong-won and the woman in question while demanding money. Yang Hong-won and the woman have filed complaints against the whistleblower for extortion, violation of the Stalking Punishment Act, and defamation by spreading false information. As the claims of the parties involved conflict, the reality of the allegations must be confirmed through future investigations and legal procedures.
Yang Hong-won and Won Hyeon-ju are long-term partners who have been dating since 2017. The couple had a daughter in November 2024 and officially became husband and wife after holding their wedding on the 18th. Given their long relationship and the birth of their child, their marriage news garnered significant interest, but the celebratory mood shifted abruptly due to the allegations raised just days later. Speculation regarding a change in their relationship has spread following reports that the two have unfollowed each other's Instagram accounts.
However, a couple's actual situation or whether they have separated cannot be determined solely by their social media following status. Furthermore, the past remarks made on a broadcast cannot be viewed as evidence to prove the current allegations outside of their original context. As the whistleblower's claims and the agency's rebuttal clash immediately following the wedding, public attention is focused on what phase the long-standing relationship of the two will enter.
