Whistleblower admits to lying in Yang Hong-won affair allegations

The whistleblower who initially alleged that rapper Yang Hong-won was involved in an affair has admitted to being uncertain about the nature of the relationship and confessed to posting false information to attract attention.

Person A, the whistleblower who accused rapper Yang Hong-won of an affair, admitted in a Gray News interview on the 29th that they were unsure if an improper relationship occurred and confessed to posting false information to attract attention. The individual apologized to Yang Hong-won and his family, revealing that a post claiming they received money from the rapper's agency was untrue.

Whistleblower in Yang Hong-won affair allegations admits to lying and uncertainty

The whistleblower, identified as Person A, who raised allegations of an affair involving rapper Yang Hong-won, has admitted to being unsure whether an improper relationship actually occurred between the two parties. Person A also confessed to creating false posts to attract attention during the whistleblowing process and apologized to Yang Hong-won, his wife, and his daughter. The case has entered a new phase following this late confession from the individual who sparked the controversy.

On the 29th, an interview video featuring Person A, who first raised the suspicions regarding Yang Hong-won, was released on the YouTube channel Gray News. Appearing with both face and voice revealed, Person A provided specific details regarding a long-standing relationship with Yang Hong-won, the background behind the decision to blow the whistle, and the circumstances they claimed to have witnessed. In particular, the credibility of the original allegations is being heavily questioned as Person A admitted to being unable to confirm the affair and to having created false posts.

According to Person A, they have been friends with Yang Hong-won since childhood. Person A claimed that they recently requested a loan of 300,000 won from Yang Hong-won due to an urgent need for money, and while Yang expressed intent to lend the funds, Person A felt offended after being contacted by a legal representative for Yang's agency. Person A claimed the lawyer's tone and attitude felt as though they were belittling them.

Explaining the decision to blow the whistle, Person A stated, "Money or whatever, I don't need it. Since you provoked me like that, I thought I would show you." Person A suggested that regardless of whether the money was borrowed, they would have exposed the situation if they felt insulted by the lawyer's words and actions. The explanation implies that personal financial issues and conflict with the legal representative led to the private exposure.

Person A also spoke regarding the core of the controversy: the alleged sighting at a motel. Person A claimed they had moved to their home with women they met at a club for drinks, after which Yang Hong-won joined them. During this process, Person A claimed to have seen Yang Hong-won and a woman entering a motel together. Person A explained that because their home was across from the motel, they were able to witness the two through a window. However, Person A added that they did not suggest the two go to the motel, but merely said, "Go out and eat some ice cream or something."

However, when asked directly if an affair occurred, Person A provided an answer that differed in tone from the original allegations. Person A stated, "To be honest, I am not sure if it was an affair." They claimed to have only witnessed the two entering the motel together and did not know what happened inside the room. Person A added a claim that the woman who accompanied him to the motel told them that she slept on the floor. Ultimately, Person A admitted that the fact of accompanying someone to a motel is a separate matter from whether an actual improper relationship existed.

Person A also admitted to lying during the whistleblowing process. Stating, "There is only one lie among the things I said," Person A revealed that the post claiming they received money from Yang Hong-won's agency was not true. The post was explained as being uploaded to attract public interest. As Person A failed to provide clear evidence for the affair allegations themselves and admitted to the false post, doubts surrounding the entire exposure have increased.

Person A apologized for the controversy spreading larger than expected. While they were aware that Yang Hong-won was married, Person A claimed they did not think the post would spread widely because they do not have many followers. When asked if they considered the harm to Yang Hong-won's wife, Won Hyeon-ju, and their daughter, Person A said, "Who would see it? I thought only my acquaintances would see it and that would be it," adding, "I think my thinking was too short." Person A then expressed apologies to Yang Hong-won, Won Hyeon-ju, and the daughter.

"I really did not think the matter would grow this large in the first place. I am so sorry," Person A repeated. Regarding the criticism directed at them, Person A lamented, "I feel like I have eaten all the insults I will eat in my life." However, at the end of the interview, when asked if there was anything Yang Hong-won should be thankful for, Person A replied, "The chart reversal," showing a reaction somewhat different in tone from the apology.

The compensation for the interview was also disclosed. Gray News stated that Person A requested 300,000 won as an appearance fee and 50,000 won for transportation, and a total of 350,000 won was paid after the interview was completed. As the whistleblower appeared in person to explain and the interview costs were specifically disclosed, the issue has expanded beyond a simple affair allegation to include the motives for the exposure, its credibility, and the process of online public opinion spreading.

Previously, on the 23rd, Person A raised the suspicion of an affair via their account, claiming that Yang Hong-won accompanied another woman to a motel immediately after his marriage. AP Alchemy, the agency for Yang Hong-won, countered by admitting the fact of accompanying someone to a motel but denied that an improper relationship occurred. The agency also stated that some materials released by Person A were maliciously edited and has initiated legal action.

Yang Hong-won married his long-time partner Won Hyeon-ju on the 18th, and they have a daughter. The privacy allegations that surfaced immediately after the marriage have reached another turning point following the whistleblower's admission of lying and apology. However, as the claims of both parties regarding the motel accompaniment still conflict, it is necessary to distinguish between confirmed facts, the claims of the parties involved, and the false information admitted by the whistleblower.
