YoonA of Girls' Generation will play forensic pathologist Song Do-eun in the new tvN drama "Unnatural" (working title), and she has just shown a very different look in photos from a digital shoot for Marie Claire. She cut her hair to a chin-length bob, dropping the pure, elegant image she was known for.

A remake with a 2027 air date

"Unnatural" is based on a Japanese drama of the same name that aired on TBS in 2018. The original won six categories at the 96th The Television Drama Academy Awards, including best drama and best actress. The series is set in a fictional institution attached to the National Forensic Service, where forensic scientists uncover the truth behind unnatural deaths. It is a medical mystery drama.

The Korean version is directed by Park Yoo-young, who also directed the ENA dramas "The Kidnapping Day" and "Ms. Incognito". YoonA began filming on the 28th of last month, and the drama is scheduled to air in 2027. Having made her name with a pure image, she now takes on an unfamiliar character as a forensic pathologist, and anticipation is building for how the transformation in the shoot will play out in the role.

Bob, burgundy and a direct gaze

On the 13th, YoonA's account posted several behind-the-scenes photos from a digital shoot that Marie Claire, a fashion magazine, did with an Italian luxury brand. The hairstyle caught the eye first. Her voluminous, chin-length bob gave her a markedly different air from the long-haired, pure image people knew.

Her expressions and poses changed as well. Her deep gaze straight into the camera added a captivating mood, and her confident posture carried a charisma unlike before. She shifted between chic and lovely, showing an appeal not confined to one image. It looks as if a change of hairstyle alone altered her whole impression.

The styling is equally bold. She made a strong impression in a sleeveless top and set in deep burgundy, and created a calm yet stylish mood in a soft-textured brown hooded coat. A black look with sunglasses added a cooler, urban appeal. She moved freely between colors, materials and silhouettes while making each her own.

From Girls' Generation to the screen

YoonA debuted in the girl group Girls' Generation and won great affection at home and abroad, and she has steadily broadened her standing as an actress since. She expanded her range through the drama "The K2" and the films "Confidential Assignment" series and "Exit", and made her presence felt in works including the drama "King the Land", the film "Pretty Crazy" and the drama "Bon Appétit, Your Majesty".
