Lee Dong-ha sheds blood-stained villain persona in 'Agent Kim Reactivated'

As the SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Agent Kim Reactivated' comes to an end, actor Lee Dong-ha has shared warm closing sentiments, leaving behind his intense villainous character. Evaluated as the production's biggest breakout star, he once again proved his acting range by leaving a powerful impression on viewers with his overwhelming presence.

On the 26th, Lee released several behind-the-scenes photos on his personal channel along with a short message: "Thank you, I was happy."

In the photos, Lee appeared perfectly transformed into his character, Manager Nam. His face was covered in dark bruises and bloody wound makeup, and he was captured immersed in the role, emitting sharp gazes inside a car. In another photo, he recreated the chilling atmosphere of Manager Nam, who drove the tension of the drama, by posing with a gun in a dark space.

In particular, a photo taken with Yoon Kyung-ho drew attention as it showed him smiling brightly despite the blood and wound makeup. While he was a cold-blooded villain on screen, the photos revealed his unexpected charm and strong chemistry with fellow actors on set.

Actress Park So-jin, his wife, also left a comment on Lee's post to offer support. Park, the former leader of Girl's Day, sent a short but warm message saying, "You worked hard," to which Lee responded, "Thank you," revealing the enduring affection between the couple. The two drew significant attention as a representative celebrity couple when they married in 2023.

Lee, who made his debut as an ensemble member in the 2008 musical 'Grease', has steadily built his acting expertise through various works, starting with the drama 'It's Okay, That's Love' and continuing through 'My Daughter, Geum Sa-Wol', 'The World of the Married', 'She Would Never Know', and 'Agency'.

However, 'Agent Kim Reactivated' is being hailed as a new turning point in Lee's career. He took on the role of Manager Nam, the closest aide to Joo Kang-chan (Joo Sang-wook), the chairman of Ju Hak Construction, and was responsible for the drama's tension.

Manager Nam was no simple villain. He was a complex character—a cold-blooded individual carrying out the orders of those in power, yet possessing his own ways of surviving within the organization. Lee maximized the character's danger through his low-toned voice, restrained expressions, and the physical presence he brought to the role.

In particular, in scenes where he faced off against Kim Bu-jang, played by So Ji-sub, he heightened the dramatic tension by creating a clash of differing beliefs rather than a simple confrontation between good and evil. He was even praised as "the greatest discovery of this work" for his ability to shift the atmosphere of a scene whenever he appeared.

As 'Agent Kim Reactivated' successfully concluded alongside the breaking of So Ji-sub's career records, Lee has established himself as an actor who leaves a powerful impression, moving beyond the role of a supporting actor.
