So Ji-sub Returns to Action in New SBS Drama 'Manager Kim'

Actor So Ji-sub is set to play a father again, 8 years after his role as a father in the 2018 film 'Be With You.' This marks his first time playing such a role since his marriage.

On the 25th, a production presentation for the new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Manager Kim' was held. Attendees included actors So Ji-sub, Choi Dae-hoon, Yoon Kyung-ho, Joo Sang-wook, Son Naeun, and director Lee Seung-young.

'Manager Kim' is an action drama about the world's most ordinary father who becomes the world's most dangerous man to reclaim his only daughter. So Ji-sub plays the role of Manager Kim, who works in the accounting team at Sangsaeng Savings Bank and has been raising his daughter, Kim Min-ji (Seo Su-min), alone.

He stated, “I wanted to do an action drama again, so I accepted the script for this work. I chose it because the narrative within 'Manager Kim' and the emotions and situations of a father raising his daughter alone and searching for her felt like a challenge to me.”

Appearing in an SBS drama for the first time in 13 years since 'Master's Sun,' he shared his thoughts: “I debuted in the 1996 SBS drama 'Model.' Since then, I have done many SBS works. My first lead role was also with SBS, and the viewership ratings were quite good after that. I have high expectations this time as well. SBS feels like my home, so I feel comfortable and happy.”

Last year, he showcased intense action through the 7-episode Netflix series 'Mercy for None.' The production team expects him to deliver similarly refreshing and exhilarating action performances this time as well.

So Ji-sub married Cho Eun-jung, who is 17 years younger, in 2020. They do not have children.
