Yang Yu-jin offers blunt reality check to Kang Ha-ri in 'Apartment'

Actress Yang Yu-jin has delivered a realistic portrayal of a friend who balances blunt, cold advice with deep, heartfelt loyalty in the drama 'Apartment.'

In the fifth episode of the JTBC weekend drama 'Apartment' (written by Kim Yoon-young, directed by Jo Yong-won), which aired on the 25th, Yang appeared as Ha Young-joo, a longtime friend of Kang Ha-ri (played by Ha Yoon-kyung). She expressed deep concern over her friend's dangerous choices while firmly confronting her with the reality of the situation.

During the episode, Ha Young-joo was visibly bewildered to learn that Kang Ha-ri, an aspiring lawyer, had taken a job as a "fake wife" to make money. "Are you crazy?" she snapped, voicing her frustration and worry. While her tone was blunt, it was driven by the fear that her friend could end up in a dangerous situation.

Ha Young-joo specifically grew suspicious of a man attempting to become an apartment chairman by fabricating a fake family and spending massive amounts of money. Taking a cold, objective look at the situation, she warned Ha-ri to be wary of the man's suspicious intentions.

Ha Young-joo's decisive nature was even more evident when dealing with Ha-ri after she was unilaterally fired from her role in the fake family. When Ha-ri expressed heartbreak, asking if all their time together had been a lie, Ha Young-joo cut her off, saying, "It was a lie. It was just a role-playing service." Even as Ha-ri raised her voice in pain, Ha Young-joo remained unshaken, advising her to focus on her own path: "Now, settle your mind and study."

Yang realistically portrayed Ha Young-joo as a character who, rather than unconditionally sympathizing with her friend, draws a clear line against poor decisions. Behind the direct dialogue and firm attitude, she naturally infused the character with affection for Kang Ha-ri, adding depth to the two characters' long-standing friendship.
