Yunji moves to LA with family; Kim Young-im heads to US to see granddaughter
Singer and actress Yunji shares her long-term life in the US with her husband and daughter, as mother-in-law Kim Young-im travels to reunite with granddaughter Ella.
Singer and actress Yunji (NS Yoonji) has shared updates on her long-term stay in the United States with her husband and daughter. Following a lengthy trip to the US with only her daughter last year, the entire family has now been living there for several months, drawing significant interest. Her mother-in-law, traditional Korean musician Kim Young-im, has also departed for the United States to reunite with her granddaughter.

Recently, a video titled 'A Week So Busy I Can't Even Blink' was released on Yunji's YouTube channel, 'ns Yoonji'. In the video, Yunji spent time in Los Angeles, meeting Lee Si An, who gained recognition through the Netflix show 'Single's Inferno'.
During their conversation, Yunji caught attention by stating, "I really came to the US suddenly. I arrived in April." This means she has now entered her fourth month of living in the United States.
The US is not an unfamiliar space for Yunji. Last December, she drew interest by announcing plans to stay in the US for about five weeks with just her daughter. Since then, having lived moving between Korea and the US, she is now staying locally with her husband Choi Woo-seong and her daughter, revealing a family-centered daily life.
In particular, this stay in the US differs in nature from a simple trip. By living in one place for several months, she is spending her daily life locally and meeting acquaintances, effectively moving her family's entire sphere of life to the United States. It is also noteworthy that her family's lifestyle, parenting, and the daily life of the couple—which might not be easily revealed during a short vacation—are being naturally translated into content.
With mother-in-law Kim Young-im joining Yunji's life in the US, a family reunion is expected to take place.
On the 6th, Kim Young-im released a video on her YouTube channel titled "Departing for the US to meet my son/daughter-in-law/Hee-seo." Packing her bags ahead of her departure, she expressed her excitement, saying, "Tomorrow, I am going to the US to meet my son Woo-seong, my daughter-in-law Yunji, and my dearly loved granddaughter Ella."
She further explained, "My son's family has been staying in the US frequently," noting that the stay this time seems likely to be quite long. She explained that she decided to head to the US to enjoy a trip after a long time and, above all, to spend time with the granddaughter she had missed so much.
To Kim Young-im, her granddaughter Ella is more than just a family member; she is a special existence. For someone who has shown a powerful presence on stage through her long career as a traditional Korean musician, meeting her family and granddaughter has now become an important pillar of her life. This trip to the US allows a glimpse of "Grandmother Kim Young-im," a side different from the charisma she shows on television.
Yunji's focus of activity has also shifted through marriage and childbirth. After debuting in the music industry in 2009 under the name NS Yoonji with hits like "The Reason I Became a Witch" and "I Caught You," she later expanded her field into acting. She has shown her potential for international activities by appearing in the film "Mr. Joo: The Missing VIP" and the Netflix film "Lift: Steal the Plane."
In 2021, she married Choi Woo-seong, the son of comedian Lee Sang-hae and traditional musician Kim Young-im, and welcomed a daughter in 2024. Since her marriage, in addition to her professional identities as a singer and actress, she has been showing her life as a wife and mother through SNS and YouTube.
In particular, the way she records her life in the US as content holds more meaning for Yunji than just revealing her current status. While the overseas lives of celebrities in the past were consumed fragmentarily through magazine pictorials or broadcast programs, she can now deliver a continuous narrative of her family's movements, lifestyle, and human relationships through her personal channels.
Last year, she announced plans to stay in the US for about five weeks with her daughter, and this year, she has been staying locally for four months accompanied by her husband and daughter. With Kim Young-im also heading to the US, Yunji's family life in America appears to be expanding into another form of family content.
Rather than her glamorous entertainment activities, as the time spent with her family grows longer, Yunji's current life reveals a different face from the past. The star who stood before stages and cameras as a singer and actress is now recording her daughter's growth process, living with her husband, and sharing the scenes where her mother-in-law and granddaughter meet.
It is unknown how long this long-term stay in the US will continue. However, with Kim Young-im joining Yunji's local life, which has continued for four months, this trip to the US is expected to be a special schedule where family members who lived apart can finally share time in one space.
