'Wild Thing' Star Oh Jung-se Goes All-In as a Ballad Prince, Delivering the Essence of Comedy
As the comedy film "Wild Thing" opens on June 3, Choi Seong-gon's music video for "I Like You" is gaining attention online.
Oh Jung-se of "Wild Thing" throws himself into the role of a ballad prince, delivering what the film presents as the essence of comedy.

As the film "Wild Thing" opened on June 3, the music video for "I Like You" by supporting lead Choi Seong-gon, played by Oh Jung-se, has also been drawing attention. The renewed interest in the clip is arriving alongside the film's theatrical release, extending attention from the movie itself to one of its comic musical set pieces.
The production team behind "Wild Thing" released the music video for "I Like You," Choi Seong-gon's signature song that has been gaining buzz on social media, on June 2. The track is a lyrical ballad built around the pure confession of a man in love, and within the story it is established as Choi Seong-gon's defining song, having recorded the unusual achievement of ranking No. 2 for 39 consecutive weeks.
The music video unfolds in a format reminiscent of the drama-style, sad-ending music videos that were popular in the Korean music scene in the early 2000s. Its wistful storyline about a first love, combined with emotions pushed to an exaggerated degree, revives the sensibility of that era in a playful way.
The details of the video also call up nostalgia. From the old 4:3 screen ratio and retro filter to the excessive lighting and strong eye-lighting effects, the clip recreates the analog atmosphere associated with early-2000s music videos.
Stills released together with the music video further draw attention to Choi Seong-gon's visual style. Appearing with a hairstyle that covers one eye, he holds a chromaharp and gazes with a melancholy expression. In addition, the signature "Love You" pose that appears each time the lyric "I like you" repeats shows the essence of Oh Jung-se-style comedy.
A previously released stage clip featuring Choi Seong-gon had already received a strong response, surpassing 1.27 million views in 11 days after its release.
"Wild Thing" is a comedy about Triangle, a three-member co-ed dance group that once swept through the music scene but disbanded overnight after an unexpected incident. Twenty years later, the members take on a reckless challenge in order to seize a comeback opportunity that has unexpectedly come their way.
