BBGIRLS' Yuna to report weather, Yujeong to perform at Waterbomb Festival
BBGIRLS' Yuna expands her career to broadcasting as a weathercaster, while former member Yujeong prepares for a solo stage at Waterbomb Sokcho 2026.
BBGIRLS' Yuna is transforming from a singer into a one-day weathercaster. Meanwhile, Yujeong, who left the group, is set to take the stage at Waterbomb Festival, a premier summer music festival. As the two, who once wrote the legendary 'Rollin' chart-climbing myth together, stand before the public through their own respective paths, their markedly different trajectories following the group's lineup change are drawing significant attention.

Yuna will appear as a one-day weathercaster on the JTBC morning news program 'Morning &' broadcasting at 7:30 AM on the 18th. During the live broadcast, Yuna will deliver real-time weather information, showcasing a calm charm that differs from the performer persona she typically displays on stage.
An idol singer stepping in as a weathercaster for a news program carries more weight than a simple one-time diversion. It is a way of expanding their professional sphere into broadcasting and information delivery, building upon the public rapport established through their musical activities. In particular, being a weathercaster requires different broadcasting capabilities than being a singer, as it demands not just reading a script, but delivering accurate information within a short window while demonstrating natural expression in front of the camera.
BBGIRLS is a group that created a unique success narrative through the chart-climbing success of 'Rollin' and 'Love.' In particular, 'Rollin' regained massive attention through videos of military base performances long after its release, sweeping music charts and broadcasting stations, and essentially providing the members with an opportunity equivalent to a second debut.
In this process, Min-yeong, Yujeong, Eunji, and Yuna each built strong individual identities and raised the team's recognition. Having been chosen by the public after a long period of obscurity and hiatus, BBGIRLS' chart-climbing success was evaluated as an exceptional case of 'rediscovery' in the entertainment industry, going beyond a simple rise in popularity.
Subsequently, BBGIRLS announced a new start under their new agency, GLG, in 2024, continuing their team activities. They released their second single 'LOVE 2' as well as the remake song 'Hopeful Wishlist,' and sought the team's sustainability by holding official fan-meetings to meet fans directly.
Recently, they released the new song 'BODY WAVE' after approximately 1 year and 2 months. During this activity, the members participated directly in the album planning and production stages, showing their determination to actively create their own musical color rather than simply performing given songs as idols.
Amidst this, Yuna is set to test new possibilities in areas outside of music. While the role of a weathercaster differs in tone from BBGIRLS' existing activities, it can be seen as another challenge in that she can utilize her experience of facing cameras and audiences on broadcasting stages for a long time.
In contrast to Yuna's new move, Yujeong is focusing on solo activities after leaving the group.
Yujeong will appear at 'Waterbomb Sokcho 2026,' held at the Hanwha Resort Seorak Sono in Sokcho, Gangwon State, on the 22nd. Given the nature of Waterbomb Festival, which has established itself as a representative summer music festival, intense performance and stage presence are required, making this an opportunity to once again imprint her presence as a singer.
Yujeong was one of the key members of the 'Rollin' chart-climbing phenomenon. At that time, as BBGIRLS gained explosive public interest, Yujeong also received great love for her unique bright and friendly image. However, upon her departure from the team in April 2024, BBGIRLS was reorganized into a three-member system consisting of Min-yeong, Eunji, and Yuna.
Although they started in the same group, the activity methods chosen by the two are quite different. Yuna is challenging new broadcasting territories while maintaining the team, while Yujeong is expanding her field through individual activities under her own name, stepping outside the shelter of the group.
This aligns with recent changes in the entertainment industry regarding how the 'disbandment' and 'departure' of idol groups are viewed. In the past, when team activities stopped, individual activities often transitioned into entirely separate paths, but recently, there are increasing cases where individuals choose different platforms such as broadcasting, music, performances, and variety shows based on their respective expertise and public images.
Particularly in the case of BBGIRLS, as they are a group that experienced the dramatic narrative of chart-climbing, the memories of that time are strongly connected to the individual activities of each member. Yuna is challenging another field based on current team activities, while Yujeong is continuing her own color on solo stages based on the recognition built during her time with the group.
Ultimately, the two who started from the same starting line have met the public in different ways: one on the weather screen of a morning news program, and the other on the stage of a midsummer music festival.
Yuna and Yujeong, who together created the miraculous chart-climbing success of 'Rollin,' are now drawing attention as they carve out their own next chapters through their distinct individual paths.
