Byeol Sarang: From 50kg to 68kg as she reaches 26 weeks pregnant
Singer Byeol Sarang opens up on KBS 1TV's Morning Forum about her 17kg weight gain and the challenges of stage performances during pregnancy.
Singer Byeol Sarang has candidly shared the physical changes she has experienced during her pregnancy and the difficulties she faces with her stage performances. As a singer who had always maintained a consistent weight, the rapid changes caused by pregnancy have presented a new challenge that goes beyond simple weight gain.

On the July 27 broadcast of the 'Byeoljubujeon' segment of KBS 1TV's 'Morning Forum,' Byeol Sarang and her husband, Kim Wan, appeared to share stories about their pregnancy and married life.
During the appearance, Byeol Sarang cited weight gain as the most significant change she has felt since becoming pregnant.
“I didn't know I would gain this much weight,” she said. “I didn't originally have a hobby of eating. I always just drank things because chewing was a bother, and I didn't really know how to enjoy food no matter what I ate.”
However, pregnancy has changed even her eating habits.
Byeol Sarang revealed, “After having Bbogi [the baby], all the food in the world tastes delicious,” adding, “I am 26 weeks pregnant, but I have already gained 17kg.”
Having usually maintained around 50kg, she reported that her current weight has increased to 67–68kg.
“I started getting muscle knots in my body because it feels so heavy,” she shared with a laugh, expressing her physical struggles.
“I want to dance, but my body won't follow”... Stage costumes become a new concern
For Byeol Sarang, who has performed with energetic movements on stage as a trot singer, the changes brought by pregnancy have also affected her way of performing.
“I want to dance, but even that isn't working well,” she said, noting, “I think the issue with costumes was quite serious.”
In particular, there were unexpected difficulties during the process of preparing stage outfits.
Byeol Sarang explained, “Even if the head stylist brings ten outfits, if I meet them a week after preparing, my belly has grown again and I've gained weight. My body shape is so different from how ordinary people gain weight that even pants don't fit.”
For a singer, stage costumes are not just clothes, but an important element of self-expression. However, in the face of the natural changes of pregnancy, she had to readjust her existing style and way of performing.
“I was very upset in the beginning because of the costumes,” she confessed honestly.
The process of becoming a mother, and Byeol Sarang's new image on stage
Byeol Sarang's confession was less about the weight change itself and more about the process of accepting her changed body and new identity.
She faced a continuous struggle between the pressure to show a perfect image on stage and the reality of needing to respect a body that is carrying a new life.
However, she showed a positive side despite the changes.
Experiencing the taste of foods she was previously uninterested in and feeling the physical changes firsthand, Byeol Sarang is entering a new stage of life.
The figure of 17kg is not just a simple weight increase, but a record of the physical and emotional changes she is undergoing in the process of moving from being a singer to becoming a mother.
Attention is now focused on the new energy and stories Byeol Sarang will show on stage after becoming a mother.
