KARA Japan Fan Meeting Cancelled: Was Tokyo Arena Too Large?
Girl group KARA has cancelled their upcoming Japan fan meeting scheduled for July. Experts suggest the 10,000-seat Tokyo Arena venue may have been the cause.
Girl group KARA has cancelled all of their upcoming fan meetings scheduled in Japan for next month.
KARA was in the process of selling tickets to fans for four fan meeting sessions to be held in Japan on July 4–5. However, the organizers suddenly announced that all four events would be cancelled. They also stated that all tickets already sold would be fully refunded.
Officials analyze that the cancellation was due to extremely low ticket sales. The venue, Tokyo Arena, is a large-scale concert hall with a capacity of 10,000 seats. This suggests that the scale was excessively large for a fan meeting venue.
In 2023, marking their 15th anniversary since debut, KARA held fan meetings in three Japanese cities, all of which were sold out. After three years, they attempted to expand the scale to hold '2026 KARA JAPAN FANMEETING : Hello, KAMILIA!' at Tokyo Arena on July 4–5, but it ultimately ended in failure.
During KARA's heyday, unlike the landscape of domestic girl groups, KARA was by far the most popular among K-pop girl groups in Japan. However, times have changed significantly since then.
KARA debuted in 2007 and received great love through hits such as 'Pretty Girl', 'Mr.', 'Lupin', and 'Jumping'.
