Seo In-young sells luxury bags, declaring 'non-possession' due to money shortages
Singer Seo In-young reveals a major shift in her lifestyle, selling off high-end luxury bags on her YouTube channel to secure immediate cash.
Singer Seo In-young has declared a state of "non-possession," disposing of even the last luxury bags she had held onto. Once known as the "New Item Girl" for her extravagant fashion and high-end consumption, her recent decision to sell her bags for cash is drawing significant attention due to the stark contrast with her former image.

In a video released on her YouTube channel, Gaegwacheonseon Seo In-young, on the 26th, Seo took two bags from luxury brands C and H to a second-hand boutique. "I am going to practice non-possession now. I need money right now," she confessed, adding, "My dad won't give me any money, so I feel like I'm going crazy."
Seo previously revealed that she lives on an allowance after entrusting her bankbook to her father. She shared an anecdote where, upon mentioning she wanted to buy new clothes for filming, her father responded in a way that suggested she "still hadn't cured her sickness," appearing to reflect on her own spending habits.
"I’m planning to sell all these bags. I have no reason to carry them. I have no money," she said, deciding to personally dispose of her remaining luxury items. She also mentioned that she had even organized the gold medals she received from variety shows in the past, excluding the medal parts themselves, signaling a broader reduction in her overall spending.
The story behind the H brand bag was particularly striking. Seo recalled being obsessed with Kelly bags in the past and buying them in every color, noting, "Back then, they were 15 million won at the store." She explained that she later purchased one for 40 million won through a different route rather than an official boutique.
However, years later, the second-hand value of the bag showed a massive gap from its original price. The H brand bag was valued at 2.6 million won, with the final appraisal for both bags reported to be between 4.3 million and 4.45 million won. The reality of luxury goods losing significant value in the second-hand market was laid bare.
This shift is garnering attention because Seo's current actions stand in stark contrast to the persona she maintained in the entertainment industry. Since her days with Jewelry, Seo has been known for her unique fashion and bold spending, an image that became a cultural symbol of her star persona.
In the video, Seo showed that she no longer finds meaning in the mere possession of luxury goods. Instead, she candidly revealed her current life, where she liquidates belongings to secure immediate cash while her spending remains under her father's management.
She has also continued to distance herself from luxury brands recently. Previously, Seo revealed a bag worth 80,000 won, stating, "I bought it on Coupang." When the production crew mistook it for a luxury item, she explained, "I bought it because they said it was a celebrity bag," demonstrating a clear shift in her consumer habits.
Ultimately, this disposal of luxury bags is more than just a transaction; it represents a fundamental change in the consumption style that was once synonymous with Seo In-young. By selling a bag she once bought for 40 million won for only a few million won, she has experienced both the fleeting nature of glamorous consumption and the cold reality of the resale market.
Whether this "non-possession" will become a permanent lifestyle or remains temporary frugality remains to be seen. However, by openly sharing her economic situation and spending habits on YouTube rather than hiding her past, Seo is presenting a realistic slice of life over her former glamorous image.
