Choi Hwa-jeong Gifts Luxury Items to Staff, Choosing Sharing Over Accumulation

Broadcaster Choi Hwa-jeong has distributed luxury bags and clothing she has collected over the past 40 years to her staff.

“I am not selling them; this is a gift. I don't like having too many things, so I am always decluttering. I hope the staff finds something they like,” Choi Hwa-jeong said while making the generous gesture. Among the bags, several luxury brand products were visible.

Holding a black shoulder bag, she explained the reason for giving it away for free, saying, “Someone at a cafe was wearing a white shirt with this bag, and it was so pretty that I bought it immediately. But strangely, I haven't ended up using it much.” The owner of this bag was decided through a game of rock-paper-scissors.

When asked about the price, Choi Hwa-jeong stated, “I don't remember exactly. I must have paid more than 2 million won.” Rather than letting items she bought but doesn't use pile up, she chooses to organize and share them with those in need instead of mere possession.

She moved to a luxury residential-commercial complex in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, in 2020. Last year, a unit with an exclusive area of 77 pyeong was traded for approximately 11 billion won.
