Kim Jung-min surprised by high appearance fee for apartment event
Singer Kim Jung-min reveals how an unexpected apartment event in Dongtan turned into one of his most memorable performances in 30 years.
Singer Kim Jung-min revealed an unexpected performance that stands out as one of his most intense stages in his 30-year career. He reportedly went on stage expecting an ordinary apartment event, only to be deeply moved by an explosive response that far exceeded his expectations.

The MBC variety program 'Radio Star,' which aired on the 22nd, featured a special episode titled 'Wipe Away the Tears Now,' starring Kim Jung-min, Kim Young-kwang, Lee Seung-woo, and Jung Seung-hwan.
During the broadcast, Kim confessed that he had an unforgettable experience at a recent apartment event.
Recalling the moment, he said, "I received an offer for a performance, and the appearance fee was very good. But when I found out it was an apartment event, I thought, 'An apartment is calling a singer like me?' and 'They are matching this level of pay?'"
He continued, "Usually, don't people have a prejudice that apartment events won't be large in scale? Honestly, I wondered, 'Do apartments even call celebrities?' So, I went to the venue with even more curiosity."
However, once the performance began, his expectations were completely overturned.
Kim explained, "The event was held in Dongtan, and most of the residents were a generation that spent their school years listening to my songs."
He marveled, "When I got on stage, the reaction was truly incredible. It has been over 30 years since my debut, but I have never experienced that level of sing-along and response."
Due to the audience's passionate reaction, the scheduled performance time naturally extended.
"I sang five more songs than originally planned," Kim said with a laugh, "It was truly an unforgettable stage."
He revealed that he made special memories with fans who have loved his music for a long time, receiving his greatest cheers at a venue he had not expected.
Following the broadcast, viewers expressed their sympathy, commenting, "The Dongtan residents really knew how to party," "An event that gave a good singer proper treatment," "Kim Jung-min's songs are masterpieces even if heard now," and "The fans' sing-along must have been a bigger gift than the appearance fee."
Kim, who debuted in 1994, was a representative rock ballad singer of the 1990s with numerous hit songs such as 'Sad Vow', 'Last Promise', 'Infinite Love', and 'Sorrow (Bi)'. He continues to be active today, performing at concerts and appearing on various broadcasts.
